So I have been lurking and posting and this is an early build of what I have started. I know its another Menasor but I actually have plans, and bought the figures, for 2 more combiners (Superion and Predaking) and with all of the other Menasors to take notes from I figured this would be a good kitbash to get my feet with. I feel i'm doing enough different things though to make it feel like my own, starting with RID Ultra Magnus for Motormaster. I've already tried working on his legs but I couldn't get the mobility I wanted out of them. I'm still using them for the trailer which I promise will be G1ish in the end. I decided to make some tweaks and use the Cybertron Metroplex torso/legs for two reasons. They looked good to me and also they have the built in ability to extend a little bit to give me that height different from Motormaster/Menasor. I'm not done with the chest area but I thought it would be a great G1 shoutout to move his head the way I did for Motormaster bot mode. As you can see from the pics the chest plate will flip up to hide it when I switch and I will mold a new head for Menasor to sit on top. I put Metroplex's head as a stand in for the pics, I might build off of it with some sculpty. I'm not sure about his wings on the back. It's possible to lose them and still look good in vehicle mode, for some reason when I go to take them off permanently though I keep hesitating because they kind of look good to me and I think they would intimidating on Menasor. The other Stunticons are all early basically untouched yet but you can see what i'm using. I have liked alot of peoples Stunticons, especially classics. Hell they were all inspirations to me to even attempt this. The one sticking point though that I couldn't get past was Wildrider. I always felt Hot Rod was the best choice but that spoiler on the back and the engine was always an irk for me so as you can see I took care of both on mine. Again its rough right now but i'm going to fix the spot on the hood and sanding and painting the back end will make it look right in the end. Overall i'm pretty happy with the progress and I really appreciate this board for the unending supply of inspiration, tips and just pure awesomeness.
whats wrong with doing Menasor? its barely been done compared to Devastator lol and looks good so far
I'm using Ultra Magnus for my own Motormaster. Looks promising, keep us updated! I'm eager to see your results. - Alty
I think Menasor is catching up in terms of frequently done combiners. Defensor is probably the third most common.
Heh, I've lost track of which is "most common" but I do know there were lots of devastators and menasors, although I think the menasors are more recent. I like how much your motormaster reminds me of his G1 self, very blocky. He always did have a different transformation scheme than prime. The legs are a really interesting idea, and will defintily save combiner kibble in the long run, which is always a bonus. My only concern is that motormaster will be much bigger than the others bots (like more than twice their size) even in bot mode. That might look a little awkward. Only time will tell!
Funny you should mention the size difference, I always thought it was funny that Motormaster was never a lot bigger than the other guys. After all the whole tractor trailer became his body. Logic says he ought to be massive in size. I always thought Prime should have been looking up to Motormaster. Ponn01: I had never thought of the RID UM until I saw someone else a little while back do it. I think him and you are going to have some ROCKING Motomasters.
Yea, the size of Motormaster is a concern for me. Which is funny because that was my whole reason for not using his original legs but days of cutting and dremeling have seemingly led me back to the same concern. I'm going to be honest with myself on this one and concentrate on how Menasor looks first since thats the mode he would be in most. Going to start priming today. And also going to clip his wings today, looking at my own pics I think he will look better. Thanks Maximus Primal, and everyone else for the feedback.
