So I've decided to step into the world of Kitbashing.

First I'd like to thank Plowking, TTT & Superquad7 for inspiring me to try my hand at bashing.

As many of you may know I've be planning out a set of 5 kitbashes. The Alt Nemesis Predacons, Why "Nemesis". Well I've always liked the idea of the "Dark" Transformers and Ops always gets all the "Nemesis" fun, That and I just like Blue and Black as a color combo. I'll be updating this thread over the winter months as want to take my time. Hopefully I can give regular updates.

My plan is to take Skids to Headstrog, Rollbar to Tantrum, Battle Ravage to Razorclaw, Sideswipe to Divrbomb & Rodimus to Rampage.

All of them will have G1 Predacons part integrated into the over all design. Due to this fact I will be unable to change back into alt modes. Which I'm fine with.
Anyways enough of my rambling, on to the pics i have so far.

Questions, Comment & anything else I look forward to hearing.

You've got your plan, you've got your bots, and you're going to town. Sounds like it already full of win from where I can see things. :thumb  I think your head mods are going to look GREAT btw! I think I'd recommend completely disassbling that Skids windsheild/roof/hatchback so you won't have a navy blue ridge on each of the pieces after you paint em. Aside from that, it looks like you're off and running! I can't wait to see what you come up with :thumb

I think I can confidently speak for both pk and 3T as well as myself that it's always a joyful thing to inspire another person to produce art. I'm continually humbled and honored by your compliments to my own work; I really appreciate the sentiment and the props man :)

Get ready to get yelled at for using Rodimus as a base for a kitbash.

I'm confused on how there is a problem, I used clickable Img/Html tags. Even if you click on the pics your IE should resize them

Thanks guys, I'm curious too. lol

Thanks SQ7, I'm more then likely going breakdown that windsheild/roof/hatchback section. I'm just a little leary about the whole pin removal.

    No problem man.

I'm expecting to get a certain amount of Flak for using Rodimus, but it was that or Mirage. It really breaks down to the mold (Ford GT) not the bot. If i got ahold of Mirage I'd get the same flak about him.

That's the sweet part, when you've got everything in pieces and you do the first irreversible modifications... then there's no going back.

What I really love is after all of the planning and labor is complete, I get to reassemble it back together. That and actually holding the completed figure in my hands for the first time is just unparalleled :)

AWW dude these are gonna be SWEET ! ! !

Couple a' things that might help:

Screw removal, I try to replace the screw(s) after the part has been disassembled that way I don't have a pile of misc. screws to sort through...trial & error - and it makes reassembly a snap !

Masking tape can be your friend, all my Alt. Preds never had any pins removed and there are some tricks to getting masking tape into tricky spots where normally pin removal is the only option.

Any paint that Hasbro applied must be removed if you plan on painting over it, a great paint stripper is 99% Iso. Alch.
(Costco or behind a drug store prescription counter)

PAINTING ! ! ! .... I will assume your gonna use paint over dye....so you gotta decide:
    paint & brush - (spray)primer & (spray)paint or just Krylon Fusion(spray)
SQ7 tends to use paint & brush.
I tend to use primer & paint.
    plowking tends to use Krylon.
None are "right" or "wrong" but they all "work", all require different application techniques and whichever you choose please allow us to walk you through it.... ....there's nothing more frustrating than getting a custom half done and a big boo-boo means you have to start all over again....:banghead:
Keep in mind if you are using any spray paint it MUST be done in a warm, dry well ventilated environment, if you cannot find a proper place to do it indoors then you may have to wait until the hot dry days of late spring/summer arrive....thats what I'm doing...:(
I'll get into proper spray techniques later if you decide to go with that method.

The most important thing you WILL need if spray paint is your choice is a mask to protect your lungs, etc.
Go to Wal-mart in the Auto section where the sandpaper/primer is sold and buy those masks(5 or 6 bucks for a 3 pack)...do NOT buy the ones in the "paint" isle, the ones in the paint isle are C-R-A-P ! and will not protect you.
I used to spray without protection and after I would find most of the overspray went up my nose.....It would burn and I would literally have paint on my finger if I stuck one up there....and it takes a long time to clean paint outta' your nostrils BELIEVE ME ! ....:p .....just go buy the proper protection and gloves.
Gloves will make your work much more efficient ....ever try to pick up a clean part to paint with gooey paint all over your fingers ?
Plus when your done painting you won't need to spend 30 minutes dissolving paint off your newly painted hands....:lol

Let us know what you need for help ! ! !
    .....:thumb

Thanks for all the tips TTT :thumb ,
But I guess I have to let you all know, I do all the autobody & paint work at my company. So I'm not to afraid of the painting side of the bashs.
On a side note I totally know how hard in is to get paint out of your nostrils :lolol .
I'm more then likely going to go the Kyrlon Fusion route seeing how *spoiler*............ PK has a friend in the works for these guys :ev:  Right now I'm just focused on making all the G1 mods, hopefully by the weekend I can get some black paint on Skids & maybe Rollbar.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

    Well guys,

G1 mods are going quicker then I expected. I may have these done sooner then I was thinking. Still going to take my time as I'm sure I will hit one or more snags along the way.

Wing backpack has been cut down, so it sits nice and flush with the inner rear bumper and back support rail of Sideswipe.
Not much left of Sideswipes head, more of less the size of his face now.

    Pics updated to first post

GEEEZ man the wings/head look ......almost natural, great idea ! ....looks like you're gonna be able to pull these off with relative ease and from what I've seen you will have a set of custom preds. that will blow all others away.....LITERALLY ! ! !

We'll be coming to you for help then....:lol

That Divebomb is looking Sweeet! The hood really works well as the tail feathers. Are these G1 predacons or larger, KO, predacon parts. I don't picture the preds large enough to fit in with the Alts, this well.
Also, are these going to, still, transform and what will you do with the parts? Will they be extra pieces or be able to fit inside the Alt vehicles?

Thanks again, Guys. You know how to make a "NooB" feel welcome.

All the pred parts are KO's, I'm not sure if they are bigger then the G1 Preds as I have never owned or held a G1 Predacon. They are a perfect size on matter what size thet are.

No transformation for these custom's, Purely showpiece's.

I think PK has created a monster.

"Hi my name is NP and I think, I'm now addicted to Plastic Crack !!!"

    :lolol

Hopefully the next update will be after the weekend.

The Predacons were always a favorite of mine, despite not owning them as a kid. Great work, NP; keep it up! :thumb

Oh . . . pk likes to replicate himself whenever he can. We kitbashers are a strange breed anyways. At least it gives me an excuse to be a monster It's always a good feeling to know that you're in the same boat with other monsters if you're a monster yourself. It helps me sleep at night at least :D  The first step is admitting that you're a monster though . . . :lol

ANYways . . . I certainly hope you (and all others) continue to feel welcome. I know this board has been very nurturing to my work and me as an artist. I enjoy encouraging others and giving constructive criticism as well as reading the same interaction with the work of others. It's just a lot more pleasant as well as a lot more fun :D
