Presenting Trypticon! Thank you all who suggested I make Trypticon. I think this really works as a nice homage piece to a character that hasn't had a figure(nonsensical uni. legends don't count) since 1986. I had fun painting this guy, kind of sad I'll have to work on something else now. I plan on selling him(I need book money!) so please let me know if its a good enough quality to sell. Additionally, am I allowed to submit this guy to the Gallery? I don't know if approval is needed or.... He was made from a D.I.C.E. Knightrex figure. He features 10 POA plus awesome sounds in both car and dino modes, respectively. The only mods were done to the feet to create better poseability, and the head, to fill in a gap left by the removal of a horn. Trypticon was painted with the following: Krylon Fusion Satin Black Krylon Fusion Grey Hammered Finish Krylon Metallic Silver Citadel Goblin Green Citadel Boltgun Metal Citadel Chainmail Citadel Liche Purple + Tentacle Pink Krylon Matte Finish Decepticon logos(badges? shields?) were printed on Avery labels then covered in contact and sealed with nail harder. As always, comments and criticisms are always welcome and appreciated.
whoa, that looks slick! that hammered gray looks awesome, that's with no dry brushing? looking forward to seeing more
Oh yeah....that's gonna be beast. The color choices are nice. Really surprised at how well the Krylon is looking these days on a lot of pieces folks are posting.
Here's the thread with pics of the original paint scheme: http://www.tfw2005.com/radicons-customs/general-discussion-10/who-should-i-make-167378/ D.I.C.E. was a toyline by Bandai from 2004. It featured vehicles that turned into dinosaurs and vice-versa.
added pics of the legs. Dry-brushed boltgun metal on to break up the monotony. Finished pics should be up tonight.
I love this line you are doing! Great use of figues that didnt quite make it, though if they were released like this, they probably would have. Also, your painting looks wonderful, keep it up!
Still needs some touch ups, but I couldn't wait any longer. Better pics will be up tomorrow, but in the meantime, enjoy these!
Now that is cool on soooooo many levels! I especally like the paints you used on him! in his car mode, makes me think of G1 Trypticons Battle station mode! Great job!
Wow, that was quick! This looks REALLY nice! Before you sell him, make sure you shoot a ton of photos for your gallery (simply review the gallery submissions thread that is stickied).
