Hey folks! It's been a while since I have posted here. Been busy working on a new project. I've been toying with the idea building an ultimate version of Motormaster. All the versions of Motormaster I have ever seen most of them never are able to separate from their trailers since Motormaster it is basically the whole thing so I wanted to make it to where the front end of Motormaster can separate so it can have its own identity away from the trailer. Here's what I have so far and I'm making it 50% cartoon accurate and 50% realistic like you would see out on the roads today. Motormaster will have five individual modes. Vehicle mode, robot mode, combined mode, battle station mode, and finally a display mode with the cab flipped over exposing and showing off the Kenworth diesel engine as well as the intricate fine details that I want to add to give it that realistic look in a few beers some pictures of a done so far more to come soon so stay tuned.
Loved your obsession with Motormaster; it's never quite perfect enough, so you have to make another! Great work so far! You should eventually post pics with all of them together just so we can see the evolution of the family!
Are the back wheels going to be pushed in any further? Right now, the wheelbase is much too wide to adhere to realism, as the rear axles are never wider than the cab. The front is right, but the back just isn't. I'm only mentioning this because you said you wanted it to be realistic, and the truck, as it is, wouldn't be road legal. I know this may come off as nitpicking, but it isn't meant in a negative way.
The base I'm using is a Cybertron Optimus Prime mold as far as the wheelbase for the back of Drive tires they only come out about a couple millimeters more than they should they look like they stick out much further because the hubs for the other wheels are going to have real rubber tires put on them but as far as the wheelbase the axles when they come out to touch further due to the way the figure is and I've already sunk the wheels as far as they're going to be able to go. I never take a comment negatively it is constructive opinion and that's fine by me however like I said in the original paragraph it's 50-50 on this project however wait to see the final results I think everybody will be impressed and hopefully my quest for a perfect Motormaster will come to an end but I doubt it LOL
It sounds like you're making him powermaster optimus prime. It should be interesting considering unlike Optimus, his cab will turn into feet, not a chest. But you might look at him for some engineering tips. It'll be really hard to scale him with anything though if you design him like a traditional Motormaster. Plus, you run the risk of his trailer being basically a footless motormaster which makes the cab robot kind of redundant. My suggestion is to make the cab turn into his entire hip/legs. It helps from the cab being two completely separate pieces, and means it'll scale better with other MP scale figures. His Trailer can still be as large since at that scale you can have panels fold ontop of each other more. I'll be watching this thread.
Everyone seems to use the Cybertron Optimus base for Motormaster. Everyone... Except that one guy who made a PCC Menasor.
The Cybertron Optimus Prime is a very good base for Motormaster basically because if you make the right modifications you have a flat canvas to start with which is a deal with some applications. As far as a powermaster Optimus Prime that's not happening LOL I'm not going to ruin the magic that I've started you guys are just going to have to pay attention to the thread and see what's going on and the cab is not the body if that's what everybody is considering or have in the backs of their minds keep an eye on the thread
Motormaster will have his trailer like I had mentioned before just have to watch the thread and see what happens
I don't think you understood my post if you thought I was suggesting using powermaster prime. I said engineering tips. But oh well, you don't seem to want input anyways. Guess I won't be watching it after all.
I'm well aware of what you were describing and whether you watch this thread or not is purely up to you. I have something special planned as I mentioned before you'll have to watch the thread and see what happens I don't know if this method is going to work or not but I have something unique in mind I just hope it works.
