    Titans Return Galvatron upgrades (Shapeways)

    Update November 19th, 2016

This is a post for a couple of upgrades I made for Titans Return voyager Galvatron.
So, I've made a couple of helms to fit over Titan Master Nucleon to bring him closer to his appearances
in the media. The first helm is inspired by the G1 rendition, modified of course to accommodate the Titan
Master design. The second is in reference to his crown shown in the IDW comics.

The second upgrade is a small adaptor piece to be mounted on his bicep port. This shifts his
cannon mount over to the side so that it provides him more poseability options.
The latest version of the adaptor is also built very solidly and snug. The cannon does not droop or fall off.

The adaptor also does not obstruct during transformation or any of the alt modes.
In fact it hid itself very well in Ship mode.

Some have been asking, so I must say no, the helm does not fit very well on other
TR heads, since it's very much designed around Nucleon's head shape.

Bloody hell that helm is quite nice.

Clever design. Time to make a Shapeways order :)

Does that mean it blends in with the normal plastic used? Or does it still have a slight grainy texture like the other printed parts?

This is an excellent question, I'm curious as to the answer.

THAT'S the main reason I've never jumped on the Shapeways bandwagon. I really, really dislike that grainy, sandy look; really cheapens the figure. (regardless of the upgrade it's trying to accomplish.)

My Takara Galvatron just arrived and the first thing I did was remove the silly cockpit for the jet mode I'm never transforming him in. I'm glad to see these upgrades and they are on my "to get" list for sure.

As far as the "Flexible and Polished" goes, there's still gonna be a bit of a grainy feel. It's not as smooth as the plastic used in the actual toy, but with a little bit of work, you can get it darn close.

Shapeways released a new material a little bit ago that for some reason hasn't made it to the masses yet, and it's REALLY close to the smooth plastic we want. I'm hoping to see it before the year ends but...time will tell.

Great work Fakebusker! Can't wait to grab these upgrades!

Okay, this is probably a dumb question, but I've never used Shapeways before. Does this actually come as purple, or do you have to paint it yourself?

I'm with others in asking if the color shown in the photos is the plastic itself or if it is painted.

By work, do you mean you have to sand it down?

Do you know what the material was called?

    You can order as purple.

I think this is great. Don't think I'd personally pull the trigger, but well done.

I think AutobotBee was referring to Black High Definition Acrylate, currently only available to designers. Initial reports seem to be good, but I'm trying to temper my expectations lest I be disappointed. I am curious to try it out for myself though.

With a very fine file, you can get rid of just about all the "grainyness". I also mix pva glue in with any paints I may use. This helps fill up pores and smooth it down.

That is indeed the material, BHDA. I am hoping it gets to the masses eventually. There are many many things I would order in it if it were available.

That's a damn fine sculpt there. I know where to direct everyone asking me for a new Galvy head/crown now.

Very cool Ariel. I think I'll have to pick these up soon.

Not going to lie though, upon first seeing this thread I thought/hoped it would be a kit to completely remove the head master gimmick.

This is great! Now I don't have to worry about ruining my Galvatron figure.
