*edit* new build on page 2

So, i've been working on a few different faceplates for a while I'm not as quick as @Trentulas- I just seem to be a little slower :(

I don't want to seem like i'm riding on the coat tails but I got my first one done to my satisfaction - but there will be more coming along - I'll try not to cross over!

First one is a proper Galvatron faceplate (linky)

be great to get some feedback guys - I've really kept prices as low as I can (to be honest I have to accrue $30 in sales before getting any money...) so everything i've sold so far I can't even claim the money on lol!

Be ever so grateful if it's something you guys are thinking of and picking up that you may check it out!

    ...The first rather poor V.1

I can appreciate the work you put into designing this but in my honest opinion it looks like it would be more suited for a G1 Galvatron figure because the details in the face are more simplified compared to the intricately detailed Titans Return figure. I think it might look out of place. Can you add more details to the expression? Maybe make the eyes a little bigger top-to-bottom and add in some cheek panel lines?

Not seeing a Galvatron here. The head crest looks wrong it should be more sweptback and pointed and the face looks like an old man.

Dude, very rude comment. Anyways although it's not something I want, I can very much appreciate the work you put into this. This is far better than anything I could do myself. Dont get discouraged by others remarks, be proud of your work.

I like the design could you make the horns sharper by any chance?

How is it rude? He asked for feedback and I gave it to him. It's not feedback if I blindly give out praise. Don't get mad just because it wasn't want you wanted to hear.

Sorry to say, but that's nowhere near good enough to be the face of a Generations figure.

Looks like the g1 one! Other than that, I don't think it fits on the tr complex design

Being fair I was going for more of a g1 look, but I totally understand where you're coming from - it's pretty much a V.1 and that's why I asked for feedback, I've only ever designed legends sized 3D printed robots, so I'm always wary of too much detail as it doesn't print well on the littler bots - thanks nemesis I truly look up to your skills so the feedback is ace!

True. It's swept back more than you may realise but I see the old man reference - perhaps he's had a hard time on charron ;)

Thanks for the support, I'm a creative director, I'm used to strong critiques so it's ok (goes and cries into pillow haha)

    I can! Thanks bud!

I HATE YOU! But seriously I don't mind, I'd rather honest opinions because otherwise you never learn do you? Thanks :)

Fair comment, I shall take on board for v.2

Again, I think I was going for a more G1 look, but the feedback is more than helpful!

So I pretty much got my butt handed to me here lol, but nevertheless all feedback is constructive, I'm 33 so it's not like I've not had the experience in harsh feedback, and it's what I prefer because I see some really vanilla feedback sometimes on this board so I'm happy to have it all!

    I'll crack on with v.2!

    So,

taking on everybody's feedback, it really pushed me to refine what i've worked on, and when I say refine, I mean go back and start all over :cry

But it's why I asked for feedback, hand on heart, I was satisfied with V.1, but the more I looked at it especially with the feedback, I began to realise that I needed a kick up the butt to stop designing as if I was doing legends sized figures. So for that, thank you guys.

    So, V.2 right?

Completely re-done, there's some renders below - and as soon as I receive my in hand one, i'll share. (also you'll have to forgive the black stripe on his nose - the renderer decided to muck that bit up :p  ) still at this link - where you can see it obviously in different materials and a 360

Much better facial details, I'd say excellent in fact! A littel too pointy on the horns though. What about something like this for the horn tips?

Not my custom but the helmet horns look great.

First off I just want to say thanks for your encouragement in making me carry on working on the Galvatron face - 3D design is something I used to do a while back and I haven't done any in ages and I'm finding it much harder than I remember! I know adobe CS inside out, but a programme like Sketch up - lost! haha!

I did go back and start refining it a bit more, i'm not too worried about the overstated cheek portions, because on past Shapeways experience they'll end up being a little softer, but I think I really sorted out the crown/eyes portion so it doesn't look quite as odd.

Again, the render is a little non perfect - but i've realised as i'm only using a trial software it's blocking some important things I could use to refine!

I think it's definitely come a long way since the first version...

New version is available here, just ordered a couple so keep your eyes peeled

    Again thanks for the encouragement

Wow, the evolution of this is great. You are definitely on the right path especially with the latest build. Looking forward to those beyond Galvatron!
