This is a WIP of a personal project I decided to nickname "Munky Business". Why this is called like that? Well, first of all this doesn't have any relation with the leader of the Maximals, but don't worry, I will be revealing more about that soon... It's been 8 years since i thought of this "combiner team" idea, but didn' t have the right figures to make, searched for many types of figures, but none had the right style of transforming I wanted... Until the release of the combiner wars toyline. (Image from Hasbro, just for reference) The project will consist of four Combiner Wars figures (probably all Alpha Bravos/Blades/Vortexes)as limbs, and instead of a voyager CW torso, I'm planning to make a torso consisting of two robots, a little one(deluxe-sized) and a bigger one(maybe ultra or leader-sized), making a better proportioned gestalt. I bought a set of KO figures a long time ago which formed an strange combined robot with ko legends cybertron figures(unfortunately I didn't took a photo of it), and it has 2 ko legends Cybertron Excellion figures as both arms. I'm going use one of them to make "the little one". He will need to be improved a lot, but the scale is just right for the combiner team. The alt mode is based on the Hot Wheels Vehicle " 40 Somethin' ", the Mattel version of the Ford GT40 concept, and the transformation is based from G1 Streetwise, but with some design alterations. In fact, I have a junker toy of the protectobot lying in one of my "figure parts" boxes that's going to be used for the body. (I tried to make a custom "Dark Streetwise" long time ago, but scrapped for lack of skill.) Here are some mockups of how the parts will be located, with the arms and legs in inverted positions, and the windshield as the chest. Now for the diassembling! I unscrewed the leg pieces and started to cut the plastic with a dremel disc tool, Making room for a new set of thighs, and for a new transforming scheme (legs will fold out instead of pulling out). Here is some "proof of concept" for body/arms transformation. I'm going to cut some more plastic here to make some space for the shoulder joints. And that's all for now, soon I will post more pictures as the building proceeds. Stay tuned for the next updates!
