I was never a fan of the head used on the Victorion toy, and apparently neither was IDW since all the artists seem to draw it a little differently. I tried to match the comics look by basically chopping off all the extra helmet at the top of the head and re-angling the two horns on the crest. I filled in the gap at the top of the head with apoxie and tried to match the paint as best I could. I also designed and 3D printed little holders for the helicopter blades that would allow for an extra point of rotation. This allows the whole assembly to be flipped up near the shoulders and still have the blades angled out to the side. Let me know what you guys think.
i think that really helps the overall look of the figure, could we get a better look at the 3d printed pieces? i like how the blades look like that.
What'd you do to the ladder that's suppose to be between her legs? I want to know cause I would like to angle my legs like that but the ladder's in the way.
Thanks, everyone! Nothing fancy. I basically tried to mimic the existing piece but added a peg. I cut off the existing blade holders and drilled a hole into the rotor. Then I just plugged the new one in. Unfortunately, the dimensions are made to work with my cheap, personal 3D printer. If I uploaded it to Shapeways or whatever, the dimensions would be off. Ah, sorry. Forgot to mention that I also removed the pin in the ladder so the chest piece and the ladder/head piece are separate. The combiner head still plugs in at the shoulders and the ladder just hangs off the back. Pyra Magna's robot mode is pretty much unaffected, but the vehicle mode is a little compromised. The ladder still clips in the black piece ok even without the pin, but it will come off if you pull on it too hard. I can live with it. It's not like she's ever going to be in vehicle mode anyway.
