So the first 3 pictures are of a Rotorstorm custom my buddy did.

He got the head from shapeways, used Armada starscreams legs and arms, and made the back pieces custom out of Lego's.

The last picture is of mine that I'm currently working on.
I'm having to grind down the arms so the can fit in the arm slots that came with this figure. I even tested painting the cockpit a clear red to give it a slightly different look.

My issues are making the backpack. I know I need to take the original tail fins off the arms and they attach to the new set up, but I can't figure out for the life of me how I need to go about turning hidged Lego pieces into what becomes the backpack on bot mode.

If anyone could help me with instructions or videos it would be much appreciated.

I will also keep updates going for this guy as I'm able to complete it

Great start! There's no such thing as too many Rotorstorm customs. Love how the legs look.

So these are the pieces I was given to be able to move the tail to attach to the back and make it look more accurate to the g1 toy.

My issue is I'm not sure where on his back to out them nor do I know how to fill it out

Well, you friend didn't lie these are the right parts. If you look at my picture the lego piece is just glued to the back of the shoulder - you need to lightly sand the attaching surfaces for better adhesion, and if you notice I added an extra strip of styrene for support.

sorry for all the questions, im new to the custom game. what is styrene and will i need to remove the ball joints used for the guns?

i still need to get a auto pin punch to get the tail fins off the original arm, im also working on dremeling down the mushroom peg on the armada starscream arms cause theyre too big
