So I had a major boredom/need something to do incident this past week, and decided to grab my son's old 12" Transformers Prime Optimus action figure and have at it. I've never done anything like this before, but the kids and I had fun. It's certainly not perfect, but I was pretty happy with it as a first effort.

Now he wants me to do one as Nemesis Prime - so I'm on Ebay picking up a couple extras of these figures. If that one goes OK, I can report back. Thankfully, a lot of good tips, ideas, and tutorials in this forum :)

I have a video of it - hope that's OK? YouTube is our main creative outlet, so we just had fun with it in a video. Thought it would be cool to share. Thanks

    First - awesome job!

Second - man, that Prime is skinny. Like the old joke, if you turn it to the side, it almost disappears!

For your first job, that's VERY good. Keep improving.

I'm curious, how did your son feel before, during, and after?

Thanks for the comments - some funny ones.

Overall, we just had fun with it. The kids got into it. They liked to see it everyday and check on the progress. So, I bought two more off Ebay to customize differently. I started the Nemesis Prime yesterday and my daughter is still thinking - Rainbow Prime maybe!?!? We'll see...

OK, so I completed a version of this figure done as Nemesis Prime, per my son's request! I thought I'd share it here again.

I liked a lot about this one, but struggled with two things 1) hand painting Decepticon logos on the shoulder after shaving off the autobot logo - too difficult for me and 2) more of a second guess, but I put a flat clear coat over it (similar to the first one - just to protect the paint), and I kind of miss the gloss effect it had before with the gloss black and gloss teal - looked very sharp - maybe I should have kept it glossy.

But anyway, here it is (YouTube video link where I show off both figures)
