After seeing this ship for the first time right here at TFW as the picture used for one of the recent podcasts on the front page, I instantly loved how it looked and went straight to googling what it was.

Apparently this is what the NX-01 from Enterprise would have looked like if the show had made it to its fifth season, having lots more cool tech, power, and armaments.
I am one of the few I guess who really liked that show so I hate that I didn't get to see at least one extra season with this ship in it.

I went and bought the model, which was just a bunch of all white pieces with a page of decals right out of the box. Here's how it came out after fully painting it and adding about half of the decals.
I screwed up a few of the decals. Hate these water slide decals... Buuuut whatever.

I edited out the metal pole it is mounted on for a cooler space effect feel in the pics.

Absolutely love this! Plan on doing one myself when I get my airbrush fixed. Along with the original NX, and Columbia!

Well hey, cool thing about this kit is that it comes with the parts and decals to make any of those 3!

Nicely done (and nicely photographed), but I'm glad this never became canon. The design is too futuristic for a starship of this period (the Constitution-class was still nearly a hundred years away, remember), and two navigational deflectors is patently ridiculous. :p

I can agree with that, but still love the way it looks and I would have accepted it as a step toward the 1701 Kirk ship as much as I already accepted how the NX-01 already looked way more futuristic and advanced then Kirk's original ship.

Ironically I get the eaglemoss monthly trek starship service, and just got a NX refit special release in the mail, and it's mostly metal and painted to match the show/reference perfectly.. so I can tell you, yours looks Goooood!

Nice! I love that ship too. It does look way advanced from the 1701 Enterprise even though this ship predates that one. Which size kit is it?

1/1000 scale, which in terms humans in the real world can understand comes to 9 inches long. :)

There is also the eaglemoss offering if you prefer pre-made pre-pai ted and die cast, but this model looks great too!

I looked it up and I really like it with the azteching details and all but it's more than double what this one cost me...
Maybe I'll try selling this for like $40 at some point and get that if it works out.

It is seven inches and comes with the magazine detailing the history of the nx design better than I had found online, with the pre-akira retool designs in good quality.

It seems like a lot, but it is pretty worth it, especially if you have a nice LCS willing to discount it a bit if you buy things or have a membership or whatever.

This looks awesome, and definitely has some design cues to bridge the gap between the NX-01 and the upcoming USS Franklin. Looks great!

That looks great! Federation ships are not easy to paint.
I had no idea about this concept. It's cool.
IMHO Enterprise got canceled right when it was really hitting its stride. (Except for that finale. The finale can eat sh*t)

Lol I've heard a lot of people say that but I loved the finale. It didn't do anything to hurt what was already done and just wrapped things up showing people from hundreds of years later researching how the federation started through the holodeck.

I thought season 3 was the best though, with an almost Mass Effect 2 suicide mission feel to it where most of the shows continued an ongoing main story.
Only problems I ever had with the show was how forced the thing with Trip and T'pol felt and how bad those CGI Xindi grasshoppers stood out.
Always looked like T'pol would get with Archer if anyone.

Oh yeah and I liked s4 a lot too, except the first few Nazi alien shows. Thought they were kinda dumb.

Intrepid and Nova class both had two deflectors in exactly this configuration and this is standard on 26th century science vessels in the prime universe as depicted in Star Trek Online.

In the tech manuals and Starfleet command games the first Federation class Dreadnaughts had both front and rear pointing deflectors.
