My first successful custom using only my hands, super glue and a screwdriver! I had a movie 1 leader prime from a lot, missing one of the shoulder pads and both smokestacks. I removed the, in my opinion obnoxious arm kibble, I pretty much took all of the kibble that wasn't necessary off. Removed the wheels from the leg pieces after I removed those from the upper legs. opened up his chest and pretty much removed all forms of electronics, (sorry kiddos, no lights and sounds are coming out of this!) when I did that I removed the flab that covers his head in robot mode, took the same piece from a for parts movie 1 prime and attached those to the back. afterwards I removed the rubber tires from the wheels, glued those together and attached those to his upper legs, removed the gas takes from the back as well (the pieces the battery compartment sat on is still there, good luck removing it!) I detached the chest pieces and glued them at an angle to more accurately capture his cgi model. took the smokestacks off of rotf leader prime and glued those onto him as well. the entire chest is held together by superglue removed the ball joints the shoulder pads sat on and trimmed down the underarm pieces of dotm deluxe prime so they would fit. (I'm talking about the rack on the back of the truck.)glued those onto his shoulders and glued his feet together. unfortunately the left knee swivel is stuck. lastly I took the tanks from fireburst prime and gave them to him as dual shotguns! check out the pics for details, this will be going up on ebay when I paint him.
Long post! wow I didn't know I could make a thread that long! on a second note, I won't be fully repainting him, just going to be adding the flames where they need to be, and painting his arms red as well as adding the gold where it needs to be.
1. Does it transform? 2. you might want to illuminate your figure from the sides, or from the front (behind you). Using a PC monitor from behind the figure just makes it in shadow. Failing that, a little post production on a photo editing app. , and... (This is just a quick and dirty example, btw)
unfortunately, no it does not transform. all the components needed to transform it are either gone or were glued into place, as I said this was done with nothing but my hands, superglue and a screwdriver. Secondly, this is not my usual photo setup as I was itching to get a few photos in.
Great work! I may not be a movie fan but this looks great You seem to post that a lot. What do you use to do it?
so, ran into a problem, what's the best paints to use and whats the best sealer/primer? (no pun intended on primer)
I have 3 of these. 2 are still unopened (one being the Premium version) So if there was a way to do this but have removable parts, instead of glued on perhaps with magnets?, then I'd definitely take one of them and slim him down. I think he looks great comparitively I gotta say though I also still like this mold it brings back good memories of the hype for the first movie. And I remember how many transformers were on the shelves back then. Wal.art had an entire isle back then!
huh, I never thought of doing that, maybe once I get my hands on a dremel, some magnets and another optimus, I'll give it a shot
