Let me make this clear..... I was not going for an exact G1 look. I just wanted him more G1 looking. I mixed elements from the toon and toys. When I finally got this guy setup for the first time I gotta admit I was a little disappointed with him. I liked the individual bots but wasn't really wasn't feeling Computron. So I just started off by making him a new chest piece. It's made from a G1 Computron and G1 Scattershot chest pieces with lots of styrene and putty. After that was done I was feeling a lot better but now his head looked alot smaller than it already was so I made a call to me best bud spoonman and he cranked out a new one for right away. I had to get rid of the stock neck piece and replaced it with some styrene and a new ball jointed neck which allows him to move his head up and down as well as left to right. The head does come off for transformation but I don't have an issue with that. After that I started looking at the little things that bugged me as well as seeing pics from spoonman on his versions so next thing I know I was re-working the whole team. Thanks for looking as always Just to show you how small the stock head really is: Scattershot, Computron, Custom
SCATTERSHOT: I think out of all the bots he needed the most work. First thing I did was mod his backpack to sit lower so I could leave the cannon attached and have it look right. Then I made a new chest using again a G1 Scattershot chest with sytrene and putty. All the custom chest pieces are made to fit using the stock holes in his chest. I was pretty happy with him but really wanted to paint his legs to look more G1. So decided to paint his legs to match the burgundy and paint his knee pad pieces white to give the illusion that his legs transform the same as the toy. It also worked out really well because Computron is supposed to have white thighs and with him combined you barely see the burgundy parts of his legs so it looks like he has his white thighs. I didn't post any alt mode pics because none of the mods affect this mode at all.
LIGHTSPEED: Nothing to much. Just some simple repainting.Mod wise all I did was remove the translucent part on his shoulders to make the square.
STRAFE: Again not a lot of modding on this one. As with Lightspeed I repainted certain areas on him but left some of the stock paint just to break it up a bit. I did mod the front wings to look a little more like the G1 ones and make them smaller. Instead of them plugging into the fron socket on the shoulder they now plug into the side to look more G1. I'm still debating if I want to try and add a piece to fill out the front of his alt mode more like the G1.
NOSECONE: I posted this guy a long time ago so I won't really get into to much. Here's a link to see what was done http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/1046932-warbotron-nosecone-mods.html
AFTERBURNER: Last and not least Afterburner. I removed the translucent pieces from the front and the rear of his alt mode then filled them in with putty and painted them. I also removed the knee pads from bot mode and filled the holes. Simple but effective.
Technobot LOVE!!! When I get the rest I can only hope they come out this god, bro, That combined mode is just PURE G1. Told you already, but I'll say it again, you nailed the look. So glad the head worked out.
Damn duder, just go ahead and drop them all at once now! You nailed it completely, as if this was the "Takara" version. I really like the subtle changes to Afterburner, especially in the shoulder area. Maybe I'll finish mine...some day...
This looks 100% better to me. If they'd looked like this from the get-go, I'd been much more interested in the set.
You sir, are an asset to the TF community! This is what these guys should have looked like out of the gate. If Warbotron would have just simplified their paint like this, they would have looked so much better. The schemes they went with were way to busy. Scattershot is vastly improved.
Thanks again so much for the amazing head!!! That really put him over the top Thanks!! Glad you like bro. Thanks Lol... Thanks bro. I'm glad you like them and if they help motivate you to finish yours than that's even better. You know I love you work bud Thanks Quad and Mal. To me that is the highest praise for a customizer.
