Edit April 12 2017 Learning about gundam markers This is the marker i have. I decided to try this on one of my older customs, Apothecary. I dont actually know how to properly use this, and am looking for advice. The application seemed dull, like maybe it was an old pen. Though i do likebthe end result. I cleaned up with rubbing alchohal and a q-tip. Also some parts it really didnt want to apply, So i was just trying out panel lining. Please leave some comments and critism. Thanks everyone. Also please excuse the previous pour paint job. This was actually one of my older customs. But I'm trying to get over my fear of painting. I've been practising and I'll post some pictures of them. Originally I actually had no idea what character I was building, and really never figured it out. This was the first time I got a dremel and really wanted to smooth things out. I'm really looking for feedback on my painting, I paint all by hand. And probably need to start taping off some section for a stream line look. Also the only color that didn't really turn out right was the wings on the knee. I do want to add some additional medical supplies Let me know what you think Introducing DECEPTICON APOTHECARY!!!
Really cool design, especially a fan of the bot mode. The pain doesn't look too bad so far. Masking tape and many, light coats of spray paint will lend you a great finish. Good ventilation is a must as well.
Thanks for the compliments. I never really considered the ventilation for how the paint turns out. Just thought you weren't supposed to breath the fumes. That being said I paint in my kitchen witch was decent air circulation. Also I don't use spray paints at all right now, just the clear coat. This is only due to my novice stature. I do take my bashes apart as much as possible, and could see how spray would be possible with the right amount of tape. I'm using Testors right now, can I get good spray paint at Michaels, that's the closest thing to a hobby shop I have in Burlington. Thanks again
Here are some pictures of before I built the confidence to paint. As you can see, and I'm sure some already knew. I kept alot of the original colours to ease my self into painting.
Im trying to learn about gundam markers. Any advice would be great. This is just trying panel lining. Updates in first post.
I actually use an eraser on my gunpla models to clean the panel lines. I find that a cutip kust smears the paint, i can't tell what you used but the panel lining does look good! Gunpla markers are a good start but ive been told ny many painters that real paint works better but is just harder to apply. When i use gundam markers its to fix a small nubb mark or mistake so i can't help you much in that way.
Thanks. Ill try out the eraser, as my fine detail paint work isnt great. Also this is the fine tip marker/pen. I havent tried the bigger ones yet. Thanks alot! Thank you. Still practicing.
I totally dig this guy. Love both his bot and alt mode equally. The combination of bots that went into creating this is great, I think that they all fit together pretty well; the bot mode is an imposing figure that says it can hurt you as well as it can heal you, and the jet-ambulance mode is just wicked looking! I also like the secondary wing configuration that you had in the fourth to last picture (Shot from above). Great work! I've always found that using fairly thinned, watery black paint along the panel lines is good; after letting it sit for a minute, you can wipe the excess off with a damp paper towel. If it's too soon and all the paint comes off... Well, just do it again and wait longer, lol.
