I am updating this post as I have made some changes to the kit (which is now finalized). I've just added new pics showing the wing rotation feature and also the replacement FOC style tail fin. In the game, the fins moved between a triangular position and a flat position for flight and hover modes. I will be painting Starscream into G1 colors soon and gradually replacing my Classics seekers with these larger deluxe and modernized versions. All of the parts stay attached during transformation, except the arm canons. Which you remove and reattach after changing modes. For an idea of how it all fits together, here is a link to a YouTube video, by MaxlovesAmber, showing an earlier version of the kit . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVBXE8l45Fc&list=FL4HVw6fWIdtG8apHJj4UyjQ The way the kit is designed, you can go for the upgraded classics look that I have tried to achieve or you can just use parts of the kit to keep the FOC style and just make some minor mods. Anyway, here it is. I will update again once the figures have been painted. Also, I am still working on a conehead variant. I am able to print these sets or partial sets for anyone that is interested. Just email me at [email protected]
That is nice. I've always liked the FOC seeker design, and I think you've really made it shine here. Especially love the rotated wings and feet, makes it feel that much more like a seeker. Looking forward to seeing the G1-esque guns, and cone head upgrade.
These look great and I really like the switchable wings. Are u going to be selling these parts? How much taller are they, can u post a photo with another figure for comparison please?
Thanks for the comments. I would consider selling the kit. I want to make a few adjustments first. If you message me, we can work something out. Here is a size comparison.
Just added a new pic of Starscream who has also been mostly upgraded today, but in gray ABS to match his existing color scheme. I should also have some pics on soon with the new arm cannons.
Finally finished the cannon redesign to have more of a G1 style but with an FOC edge to it. I printed them in grey ABS so I decided to display them with Starscream since they match his current color scheme. Seekers are still unpainted....waiting for my Tamiya thinner to arrive.
Thanks for the feedback. I would definitely like to give others the chance to have this kit. My biggest concern with Shapeways is that the kit would end up very expensive due to the number of components involved and the quality of the prints from Shapeways are not that great. I would consider printing these for people myself but I am still working through some consistency issues, as ABS is a difficult material to keep under control. So, I am investigating all options and I will keep this thread up to date. I have just uploaded a couple of additional pics to show another new part that stabilizes the jet fuselage. One side effect of the thigh extension is that the legs could no longer tab onto the torso in jet mode. This part fixes that and also fills some of the leg gap in jet mode. It is the grey triangular pieces sitting at the back end of the torso.
Awesome. Do the new null rays have 5mm pegs, because I actually do kinda prefer Seekers to have their guns on the lower arm, rather than towards their shoulder.
The guns do have roughly 5mm pegs. I designed the arm mount to work with the existing FOC guns too, which seem to be slightly larger than 5mm. So, the new guns will be on the upper tolerance of 5mm, just like the FOC guns.
Added more pics showing the wing rotation and the FOC style tail fin. I actually started painting Starscream too. Hurrah! So, hopefully be able to show him in his new G1 colors soon.
I can do one kit for 30, then if you wanted a second I would do that for 27.50 and then a third at 25. Price doesn't include postage, which is 2.50 to domestic US addresses. The kit contains 20 parts. The FOC tail fin is 7 and isn't part of the main kit. Just email me if you're interested. Hope you like the project.
Starscream is finally getting painted. I will update when complete, but its currently a work in progress. I'm happy with the base grey color though. Time to start adding in the red and blue.
