I would love to see this in Legends scale. The design is very nice and would work well with the Seekers as alien/real world hybrids.
Amazing! Congratulations on the A! I actually just built a 3D printer for myself in February, but the tolerances would be way off if I printed something without tolerancing it... I always knew they were good but Shapeways must be dead on with their prints! Looks great though- A lot of 3D printed prototype transformers have some flop to them, but I really like the trick you have for the chest transformation there.
Thank you everyone! I wouldn't mind working in Legends scale. Easier to design and cheaper ot print. I'll see if I have time this summer, aha. Yeah, Shapeways has great tolerances, but it's not exactly perfect. I did have to drill some holes as some of the holes weren't printed correctly. I'm pretty proud of the chest transformation as well, but I think my favorite engineering feature is the pull out legs with the spring loaded button lock, aha.
Looks quite a bit smoother than I'd expect from a 3d print. Did you sand or use acetone or something? Whatever you did, I wouldn't be able to tell just by looking that it's 3d printed.
A lot of priming and sanding. I wanted to do the acetone vapor method, but not on something that's my final project and I have no idea how to do it. Maybe my next small project.
You did a great job and congratulations on getting an A! I liked how you smoothed out the 3D printed parts and I liked that it could move on it's own power (thanks to Thomas the Tank Engine).
Do you happen to have the files? I might be able to rework this into several other characters. I'd give credit directly to you.
Very well done! Do you think you can do something with the treads, make it seem less partsformy and have like a fun gimmick with it
