Update: Nearly done with the paintwork.

So the factory figure is questionable in my opinion...I don't think it fits well other than the color scheme, head and tank mode into the Armada line version of Megatron so I modified him a bit to see if I could make him slightly better in appearance.

His tank treads/back pack are removable and snap onto the rears of his shoulders. I think this is a good compromise compared to show's version.

His pistol barrel tip was removed from the cannon and relocated to Meg's waist as well. I am also thinking about making his cannon base removable for his right forearm and then able to be stored on his back for bot mode.

The mods I did are secure fitments to the figure for bot mode and can also be placed back in line for tank mode. I'll painting this figure up pretty soon for a more show accurate appearance as well :)

Been tempted to buy one since day one because of the Minicon ports, even though they don't do anything - even MORE tempted NOW, after seeing these mods!!!

Good ol Hasbro stock photos, really digging the mods, they make him feel more like his own character now.

If the actual figure looked like that I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Awesome work!

I was hesitant to pick this guy and the G1 inspired Megatron, but I bit the bullet when I saw the DX9 upgrade kit on it. I picked up two of those and they really do beef the figure up and balance the proportions too.

How did you detach the treads?

Looks much better with the treads moved to the arms and the flat color palette looks great by the way!

    Thanks for the comments!

I like the look of both figures but the legs are a bit skinny to me so I will be beefing up the legs on this guy a bit. The treads are easily removed one you are able to take apart the lower legs. Now 'that' can be a bear. I had a bit of difficulty pulling the ankle pins out. Almost didn't bother but then was able to get it.

Cools thanks! This is the kit that I was referring to. I know some folks are not in to the big feet, but I really like it and it does fix the skinny legs. Plus I like the Armada Megs better just because the head seems more in proportion with the body.
