CW articulated rotor arm mod (WIP) I was kinda disappointed with how the rotors on the CW helicopters couldn't rotate freely in arm mode like FoC Bruticus (with MCB Military Titans). I figured all it needed was one extra joint to bend the propeller sideways. I was trying to figure out the best way to add a joint, and I thought of the Lego ball joints. At first I thought of using the ball joint and the socket, but after trying to fit them in the rotor arm, I determined I could just use the ball joint as a hinge. I shaved both sides of the ball joint a little to make it fit between the two while pegs of the rotor arm. I wasn't sure how best to cut the arm to make the joint, I decided to try cutting it diagonally. I trimmed and cut some edges so they wouldn't collide once the joint is hinged down. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out how I had thought: I used a dremel to cut the arm which created a gap between the two pieces, some of the cuts and trims I've done were unnecessary. Luckily, my idea was still doable. I drilled a hole into the ball joint and the propeller piece, and cut a paperclip to create the hinge. Since the pelvis sticks out into the rotor arm in helicopter mode, I had to cut the ball joint clip in half and make an indent in the ball joint for it to sit over the pelvis. The last step is to connect the two rotor arm pieces together. I plan on using Greenstuff inside the arm and gluing the ball joint clip onto it. Since I don't have Greenstuff yet I just used Bluetack and an elastic temporarily. While playing with it I noticed I could clip the rotor on the forearm, it looks pretty cool. Maybe I'll use rare earth magnets to make it detachable instead of gluing them together... Let me know what you guys think.
That is awesome. Maybe a 3P or someone on Shapeways will make something like this because my customizing abilities are not sufficient enough to do this.
