So it's been a while since I've done a TF custom, thought I'd change things up and do something I've never done. After seeing Lek's cell-shaded MP10, I decided I'd give it a whirl on an extra junker Takara MP Lambor that I had after my previous version. Since he was missing parts that would allow him to transform, I decided to resculpt him a little, to try and make him a little more game accurate. Many of the car details were removed, and starting with the legs, I used tons of filler and styrene panels to look more like his game appearance. I scratch-built the back section to match screen-caps, since the canopy of the figure was one of the main parts scavenged from this one. I also narrowed the chest about 3/8-1/2", shaved the headlights and bumper, and pulled the shoulders in 1/4" on each side. After many hours of sanding, priming, sanding again, and repriming, I sprayed various HoK and Mr Color lacquers, followed by Testor's flat clear lacquer to finish. This was one of the most difficult jobs I've tried, mainly because I'm particularly anal about symmetry, which this style doesn't really lend itself to. It was fun to step outside of my comfort zone a little, hope you guys enjoy! If you'd like to see some of the build up process, you can visit my Barbershop Customz page on Facebook.
Nice work on the back, love the shading on the legs as well. Subtle in its quantity but striking were it is used.
