Looking at Blast-Off, how many pins need to be knocked out?

About three. One for the nosecone assembly and two for each wing. The rear wings are on a friction hinge. If the shuttle nosecone needs a pin joint then you'll have to knock out another pin from the jet nosecone, but I don't think that's the case.

Really loving this design, and I mean I really really love this design. Was going to order it... but then I checked the price for all three upgrades and it would probably be cheaper to buy from Takara. :c

You are right :(  that is the unfortunate truth about 3-D printing.

Would it possible to bundle them together to cut cost? Honestly I wish a 3rd party would pick this up and work with you...

With WSF material, bundling won't cut too much cost...unless I use sprue to join them but that needs to be done very carefully otherwise the model gets rejected due to weakness. My experience with spruing is that it gives limited saving, maybe a buck or two the most.

I am testing with different options. 3rd party has most profit selling full figures rather than upgrade kits.

Yes I am thinking about the design right now. Trying to find a suitable military chopper to copy. Black Hawk is my first choice but that does not carry enough visual punch. Still thinking. any suggestions?

In fact I now think I should maybe create another kit to make a Ka-50 Alligator out of this mold, sounds like an interesting concept.

I think I like the look of your design better than Takara's TBH, yours looks sleeker, kinda like the x-71 from Armageddon. Excellent progress.

Really loving this. I have a complete CW Bruticus so I have no need for the Takara version. I'm hoping to order the Blastoff head soon. Is anyone hear a good custom painter who has experience with painting 3D printed material? I lack the experience and the time. So I would rather commission someone.

Agreed, you're the only one I know of who's actually put some desperately needed love into Blast-Off. Be proud of that.

Yup. I, too, think this looks better than the Takara version.

I'm not super interested in customizing a toy with Shapeways parts, but if you were to partner with a 3p company to produce these in color plastic, I'd be very interested.

I'm looking forward to this kit! I have some money saved up for my next Shapeways purchase and I'm waiting for the shuttle front to be released until I place the order.

The more I look at it the more I'm loving this design, I hope some 3rd party follows suit to get this made to match the CW Blastoff :)

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it was molded colored plastic with paint apps, not Shapeways crap quality... If you could partner up with a 3p or something and make this into a real kit that would be awesome!
