First off, my picture taking capabilities suck , so bear with me. Secondly, this is the first time I've taken a paint brush or anything of the sort to a Transformer. Screwed with models and HO trains back in the day but it's pushing near a decade. So give me some feedback as a neophyte here. Used some trimmed down small detail brushes and some of the Testors detail swabs(work great) and it is Tamiya flat aluminum and flat black. Nothing crazy, painted rims aluminum and got rid of the godawful green pegs in the middle. Some trim and all the ladders got aluminum as well as some vents. Kind of stalled on Bonecrushers and Scavengers treads, not sure how I want to finish them up. Give some pointers and good or bad.
I did my first with someone I really liked. Soundwave. Not just some ho. I don't mind getting me some models even now. Welcome to the real party in the TF hobby. Your detailing looks pretty good and I hope to see more from you man.
Detailing is a great way to customise a toy. I find that I start finding MORE detail, and before I know it, it's almost a full repaint!
Even the simplest of details can really make a figure pop. Words of caution- let the figures sit for a few days at least to allow for the paint to cure. Silver paint is sometimes a total pain and can rub off quite easily if not dried/cured long enough.
For your first paint effort, you've done a fantastic job! Excellent! Are you intending to add any other paint effects to these guys?
I didn't know they let brown peeps from Canada in here? All the BS'in on the boards and I didn't know you customized stuff. So that's cool and thanks. I'm staying away from crazy stuff for now Be awhile before I go after any MP's! I have some random junkers around I might goof with though, so who knows. Time is a factor for me. It all sat for 20+ hours before even being handled again by the time I put it away for the night and then work the next day. Wasn't sure how long any of it took to dry or what not, so I let it all sit For being relatively simple stuff, it definitely made a huge improvement. I could not stand those damned green wheel pegs....Cheap asses came up with that idea! Thanks, not totally sure. Happy with what I ended up doing so far and time wise I think I have 3-4 hours in it and since its been years since I've done stuff like this I'm pretty rusty as well Now what do you guys and gals here think about doing for the treads in Scavenger and Bonecrusher? I've dug up pics from other folks, but I've found nothing that I really like. Not a fan of the solid purple and solid green(I know the G1 were), but on this version it's to big a section of one color with nothing else in it. Put flat black in a few small areas and then stopped until I find something else to do/try/see/etc. Thanks again, wasn't sure if I would get bashed in here or welcomed in
How about dry-brushing the treads with a metallic colour, so it looks like the purple n green is wearing off?
