Custom Star Wars 6" Black Series Vehicle

This was a fun project. I was inspired by rebelscum customizer Sallah and his custom X-Wing Fighter, so a big thanks to him.

This was originally a Hero Series X-Wing Fighter. This is a LARGE toy vehicle, measuring 29 inches long and 25 inches wide. I could never pull the trigger on buying it because it was overpriced for being an oversized "shampoo bottle." I recently found one on clearance at Walmart, and after 3 or 4 price reductions, I decided to buy it so I could customize it and make it my own.

I modified this for use for 6" Black Series action figures, but it is also compatible with the standard, smaller 3.75" action figures. I added a transparent and hinged canopy. I added an interior cockpit with two seats (the 2nd seat might be a tight fit though because of the LED wiring). And I added LED lighting.

    Thanks for checking this out.

    Outstanding, Louis! :thumbs2:

Now give it a decent weathered paint job.

This is great! Wonderful job man. Love the size, being large enough in scale with the 6 inch figures. That alone is cool, then add your work, and led lights too! So cool. And I agree, a nice weathering would be icing on the sweet cake you made!

Thanks! Yeah, the X-wing can really do with more paint apps and weathering, but my paint skills aren't the best.

Thanks for the compliments! I may go back and add weathering in the future. I really want to "brush up" on my painting skills. *no pun intended of course* :)

Yeah, I've heard other suggestions about using different lights as opposed to LEDs. The LEDs are ridiculously bright and actually shine thru the plastic sometimes. I'd like to try different lights in the future -- like those SMDs that you suggested. I'm going to google those and see what SMDs are. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Wow, fantastic work! Very impressive. If Hasbro made an OT X-Wing sized for BS 6" pilot figures, I'd get it, no hesitation.

Nice! This turned out very well. Love the use of the hinge. And clear windows make such a difference

Nice job on the X-Wing, any chance of making the wings open to the X configuration?
