It's been awhile since I've done a Transformers-related custom. Unfortunately, it probably be months before I do another one. But in the meantime, I thought I'd share a custom Star Wars The Force Awakens Battle Action Millennium Falcon that I worked on. This actually uses lots of pieces from the now defunct Transformers Construct-bots toy line that I used to love so much. Thanks for checking this out! I hope you like it!

I am at a lost for words. I wasn't going to get this but you have made me realize that this has potential. I think I like the opening ramp the best. Every Falcon toy should have one right. Great job man!!!

    Impressive, most impressive.

Though I find the scale a bit off for internals, still nice.

    "What a piece of junk!"

That's a beautiful Falcon. If only Hasbro's was anything close to that.
Great work! You make me want to get a BA Falcon now.

I think the inside of the ship, especially the cockpit, could have benefited from a coat of paint to block the light from showing through. I do like the lighting effects, but they make it look somewhat thin when it's closed up.

Thanks for the compliment! I really appreciate it!

Thanks! You're exactly right, this Falcon REALLY needed a ramp. It seemed so incomplete without it.

Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, I agreeā€”the scale is really off on this. When I first got it, my first impression was, "This is so small." Everything about this new version of the toy is so compact. It kind of makes everything feel cramped somewhat. I wish it was a bit bigger and more spacious.

Yeah, that's my biggest regret. I didn't realize how thin the plastic was until I lit it up. I was thinking about painting the interior of parts of the ship to prevent light bleedage and see-thru, but the plastic on this is VERY thin, soft, and pliable, I wasn't sure what kind of paint it'd be receptive to. And I don't trust my painting skills all that much -- it'd probably come out really sloppy.

Thanks for the compliment! In all honesty, I wasn't too hot on this new Falcon when I first saw it. The design didn't feel as complete to me. But once I had it in hand, it really grew on me, and I saw lots of places where I could play around and modify it.

Brother I just want to tell you how much I love this custom!
    It is gorgeous!
I want to do something like yours and I have a few questions if you don't mind.
What kind of lights did you use?

You mentioned using construct bots parts for the landing gear and I wanted to know how you got them to hold up so well. Usually Construct bots parts are a bit brittle and I just was curious about how you modified them.

Again I think this is one amazing project!

    BRAVO! (Stands up and claps)

looks cool bro. Theres really alot of lights going on there.

One thing is certain, that is no fault of yours, its pretty clear (no pun..) that its pretty thin walled plastic. Fine for a toy..but after handling that BMF that was released a few years ago, this one is more akin to the early 80s one.

Now is that bad? no..the falcon I had as a kid was prolly a better toy per say, as I could swoosh it around. The BMF is so big a kid could not pick it up.

looks like a nice toy alot of kids will enjoy this holiday season.

OH..and I have a little running bet with my buddy..that Hasbro or whatever retailer heavily markets this toy, is going to run old home movies of kids opening the original back in the ealry 80's, and then show kids want one in the store.

Nice custom bro. Ive looked at this in the store and my son likes it alot. How did the nerf gun shoot before you gutted it? my son is also a nerf junky and that part of it was pretty appealing to him. Ive modded alot of his nerf guns...lol..his guns are like WAY more powerful.

First off, thank you so much, everyone, for the compliments. Now for the answers to some of the questions:

I used R/C lights. If you go to Amazon.com there's lots of dealers and manufacturers who make lighting kits for radio controlled cars and other R/C toys. These lighting kits are nice, because a lot of the hard work is already done for you -- you just have to drill out holes, insert the lights, and find a place to keep the battery.

As for the Construct-Bots pieces, yes, a lot of those pieces can be brittle. To make up for their weakness and to ensure that they held up the weight of the Falcon, I tried to reinforce each piece or clip with another piece -- so there's lots of support beams, cross beams, etc. It's honestly, a lot of trial and error. Fortunately, I had a lot of Construct-Bots pieces to play around with and I was lucky to find a configuration that works.

Yeah, I'm a HUGE fan of the BMF falcon from a few years back. The BMF is the DEFINITIVE falcon toy in my opinion. This one is nice, it's a fun toy, and although I LOVE IT, it has its flaws and just feels incomplete.

The Nerf cannon can be kind of sketchy. Mine jammed a few times, which was frustrating, and part of the reason why I took it off. BTW, I have a video review of the new Falcon if you're interested in checking it out:

And thanks again for the compliments!

Thanks, hearing that really makes my day! :)  I've been inspired by so many customizers here on Radicons. It's really a great community we have here.

    Thanks! :)

Thanks bro I will check those light kits out.
Also will try and make a landing gear like yours :)

I don't suppose you would have some work in progress pictures of the landing gear available?

    Very excited about this project

Unfortunately no. I didn't take any in-progress photos of the landing gears. Sorry about that.

I keep coming back to this. Any chance you can show us a photo of how the ramp is hooked up and how it looks? You have given me ideas!

well i got a tip for ya instead of paint to stop bleedtrough, might consider paper with 1side black 1side grey, i even used isolation tape before if you cannot see it from the outside who cares :D  BUT THE REST IS AWESOME WORK!
