its been a while since i posted a custom here so here is my custom cw ironhide. i didn't feel he was tuff enough and older looking. the head is from the classics ironhide, the front grill is from classics ironhide, and the guns are from prime kup.

I dig the mods! If I wasn't on a budget currently, I'd have gotten a CW Ironhide and done some modifications too.

Great job! Was putting Universe Ironhide's head onto the CW body hard? Keep up the great work.

Neat! I picked Ironhide up yesterday. I might try swapping heads with the classics one.

The original CW head reminds me of the G1 Marvel comics version of Ironhide.

I'm not sure to be honest I originally modded the head to fit on a prime kup figure but after i reworked it for cw ironhide it worked just fine. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on that aspect

Can he still transform with that larger head?

He still transforms just fine. He can still become a limb for combiners also.

It should only be a matter of drilling a 4.8mm hole up into the existing hole, it should then be a pretty snug fit on the CW ball socket. It helps that the head already unscrews in half, so you can make a hole that's slightly too small and then assemble it around the ball joint.
