Coming out of semi-retirement to finish a few long-overdue projects.

First one here is Roadbuster, created from CM's Corp Mugen Calibur. While the sculpt and accessory loadout of this figure is great, the articulation left a lot to be desired, especially the hips.

I added extendable ball joint hips, and also moded the backplate to give the hips more range. While they're still fairly limited, the figure now has a much more natural neutral stance. I added in a new ball joint neck, which also allows the head to rise up a few mm. Finally, I gave him new, fully articulated Hobby Base hands to replace the ridiculous mittens he had before.

Other small mods included shortening and rounding the "ears" to resemble the original Roadbuster toy, and adding an additional permanently folded rifle to his left leg in robot mode. (The full rifle is still fully transformable as intended, and in the vehicle mode shots, the folded stock is attached.)

Paints used are custom mixes of Tamiya and Model Master Acrylics. Autobot logos are Ocean dry transfers, while the rest of the markings are from Reprolabels G1 Roadbuster set.

Comparisons: Yep, he's actually just slightly smaller than the original. However, the sculpt and scale is truer to the appearance of the Calibur in the Dorvack anime, it's actually pretty small mech. The toy is about 1/48-1/50 scale, so nearly perfectly in scale with the Jetfire custom below :)

Sorry to dredge up the past.. but what Tutorial are you referring to?

I also recently grabbed a CM Corp Combat Calibur and plan on creating an MP roadbuster in a similar fashion as Jarrod...

Did you recast the permanent folded rifle or just buy an extra?

Do you have pictures of the hip mods you did?
