finally finished this commish for an uber patient client. (it was started just after tfcon2015, but I had to take a 2 week break from bashing to get other areas of my life in order) I can now honestly say....I never want to do this mold again lolz... the sheer amount of molded in details I tried bringing out is quite excessive. his tail is also made from the same rubberized plastic that's notorious for staying tacky no matter what paint. there's also more rub points than I would have liked(a lot of detail sanding was involved)and coupled with the fact that the plastic quality itself is so cheap, alot of areas where I would have normally knocked out pins were painted as a whole for fear of shattering the plastic during pin removal. hopefully the commissioner likes the end result.... the new matrix sword is cobbled together from the butchered weapon thing that came with thundertron and some bits. the ancient primal shield is bashed from a dotm ark playset cockpit and some smaller bits including the claw from the above mentioned weapon thing. all repacked back up and ready to fly to his new owners shelf.....
Daaamn, that is nice. I can definitely see where you're coming from in regards to all of the detailing, though. I'd want to pull my hair out. Great work! In an unrelated note, if your offer still stands that I can come by and check out your parts collection, I'd like to do that sometime in the near future here...
A3 Simply beautiful!!! The detail work looks so freakin' nice. What kind of paint did you end up using on the tail and did it feel dry (not tacky) when u were finished?
I apologize for the late replies guys,i've been busy prepping for x2 toy shows this coming weekend....I never thought i'd say it but i'm plastic cracked out lolz!!! it is a nice mold,i like the optimus version more though with the remolded head. thanks!! first I used an automotive enamel with a flex additive, then it was hand brushed over with model masters acrylic which helped take out most of the tackiness, then finally it was clearcoated with krylon gloss spray. it does feel dry but because of how extremely bendable the tail is it still shows spider cracking....if only there was a way to do dye's in metallics..... thanks mang, and your bot is almost done too...soon..... for a fellow customizer...always incoming pm.... ^thanks guys!! thanks, and that....is a mold that really sucks to detail(cybertron vector prime) the amount of gears, cogs, details, etc would drive a guy crazy.....the wash would be too bad,but each and every gear...... thanks mang!!! thanks!!
