CW Defensor leg extension/midsection improvements. small update. I made a larger piece out of cardboard, made the stomach section smaller and changed the shape to be more G1 accurate and added more torso bulk to the sides. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So i discovered a quick easy fix for Defensor's skinny thighs/midsection when you use Hotspot's full leg extension to increase his height that anyone who owns it can do, its the simplest thing in the world. Pop off hotspot's chest plate and stick it in the gap between Hotspot's back and the back of the chest plate. I'ts that simple. its fits nice and snugly and wont come fall out or come off unless you want it too. its also just loose enough that you shouldn't have to worry about paint scratching. but dont quote me on that. After doing this though, i thought, how can i take this same idea and take it a bit further? this is the result its quick and dirty but gets the job done. its quick and easy, it i wanted to go further with this i could add moving skirts or something to preserve the articulation, as of now forward movement is impossible.
Hell yes! Thanks for this! It's a great idea! I was looking for something to put there... I don't know why 3ps arn't doing anything for Defensor, he clearly looks way better with extended legs. They just need to make something that would make it more stable and a crotch plate! But thanks to your idea, it's better than nothing!

Yes, but the way its built you could easily turn the midsection into hip flaps to gain it back. Hotspot's knees are also right where the hips would be now, you could mess with those too. The best way to do that would be to twist it and have defensor's inner thigh/back of Hotspot's leg end up the front as his legs swings out, but then that leaves a gap that looks ugly, but it works. you could always add some kind of filler for the gap in the leg as well. Edit: actually using hotspots knees is ta terrible idea, while it does work its VERY unstable and the hollow bits are horrible to look at. would definitely need some kind of gap filler and perhaps a replacement knee or at least something to strengthen it for combined mode. !s it is though, you CAN get one click out of the hip forward before it starts hitting anything.
this is one click of hip movement on both legs, as far as each leg can go because of the midsection piece. though posing Defensor with Hotspot's legs extended was always very finicky to begin with. Im surprised it looks even this good. this midsection piece was never really about functionality because the nature of his legs when extended are hard to work with to begin with.
This is pretty cool! I tried it and now have my Defensor displayed with the red stomach. I'm working on a way to make him a little taller, my custom feet just don't cut it. Extending Hotspots legs like you said and filling in the space might have to be the way.
thanks, and yeah i agree. I have no idea why 3rd parties have not tried to tackle Defensor yet. I mean perfect effect did Superion and Menasor, Superion hardly needed anything other than replacement antennae and they did a whole upgrade set for him. Menasor truly needed it. But Defensor is left being this short stumpy thing with no attempts to even try to fix it. here i am coming up with what is apparently the easiest thing ever... extend thighs and fill in the waist. Thats it. Granted it kinda ruins hip articulation, but so did the Menasor upgrade kit... so removing funcional articulation clearly isn't the problem.
This is what I did with Groove. It started out as a joke, giving Defensor a tire for a pee-pee, but otherwise I don't think it looks half bad. Groove now serves as Defensor's underpants/diaper.
