Hey everyone! Here are a few photos of my Alternators Jurassic Park Jeep custom. Took an Alt. Swindle and screen caps of the jeep in the movie and have this so far. His name will probably be Rollbar but haven't really decided yet. Will post more when I have more to show.

Awesome! Please do share the result. The Jurassic Park Jeep is such a great design, and the Alt Jeep mold is beautiful. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments guys! I will update this when I make more progress. Now just get ready when my Knock off Binaltech Hummer comes in from Sirtoys. I will be painting that one up in the Ford Explorer colors from Jurassic Park, so just be ready for it.

    Looks great so far!!.

I don't know if it's your camera or if it's a base coat, but the base colour on JP jeeps is " Sand Beige " not grey. If your aware of this already, ignore this helpful suggestion.

    Can't wait till it's finished

Thanks! Yeah I knew they were a tan/sand type color but could not figure out what. I just mixed some until I got a color that was similar. I did find out that Testors does make a sand beige color so I will find some of that and repaint it. Thanks again for letting me know.

Dude, you have a good thing going on there. But you may want to use multiple thinner (i.e., very thin) coats rather than just a few thick coats as you seem to have done here. I promise you, you will get much better results.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try doing that with my other projects when I get around to them. Does anybody think the Sand Beige is a little more brown than the actual jeep? Also should I cut the top of the doors to make them look like the ones in the movie or leave them? Let me know what you guys think.

The jeep's color needs a smidge of grey added to the sand beige. Three parts grey to one part tan should do it (in the bright 1992 Hawaiian sun, the jeeps looked more grey than beige)

Thanks. I thought that it was too brown. I will mix some up and test it out. Might show pics tomorrow and start a thread for my knock off binaltech hummer custom. We will have to wait and see.

Ok here are two photos with the new paint mix. I mixed Testors Sand Beige and White until I got a color that was close enough to my liking. Don't mind the grey on the hood where the tape was. What do you guys think?

Looks good. Are you gonna mod the doors and paint the roll cage?
Btw, the Jurassic Park logos are on the doors and the license plates (and should you decide to tackle the challenge, the mirror hanger). The hood has "JP[jeep number]" on the center just forward of the bump. The JP should be Red while the Jeep Number should be body color, but surrounded by a red square. The Jeep number should also be painted in body color on the red diagonal areas near the door hinges.

Thanks! Yeah I think I will mod the doors. I might try to do the mirror hanger but not sure. For the decals check out my hummer thread as there is a photo of them.

Color looks closer now!! good progress

I see your handpainting very brave!

Some more suggestions if you want it.
If you want when your finished painting, if you very lightly sand down any paint lines/bulid ups and clear spray the whole vehicle with a matt finish (Tamiya) that will dull down your gloss finish that you have now, giving you a even closer representation, it will also help smooth you finish out too.

Yeah I saw those. I'm kinda wishing I'd known about them a few months ago before I used sticker paper to do the decals on my 24th scale Jurassic CJ-7 custom (shameless plug ahoy!)

    More tips!
All five rims should be painted red. The Door logos should have a red background, the license plate and mirror-hanger logos should have yellow backgrounds. The license plates should be two-thirds white (left side) and one third yellow(right side) separated by a thin red line. The JP logo should go in the white section, while the yellow section should feature the Jeep's number filling up the top three-quarters of it above the letters "I.N. CR" (for Isla Nublar, Costa Rica) in the bottom quarter of the yellow.
The the mirror hanger should be almost entirely red with a yellow section a little ways up filling about a third of the tag. The itty-bitty JP logo goes in the top red section, while the yellow section should feature the vehicle number in red.

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. I am thinking of changing the look of the doors but if I do I will have to paint on door handles. Not sure about the hang tag just yet but will see. Yes the whole jeep will be painted up just like the movie one though I am not sure that I will have enough room to paint on the jeep numbers on the side of the red stripes. The number of this jeep will be JP12 since that is what I have on the license plates. Will post more photos when I have some more stuff to show.

Ok I changed one of the doors to look like the ones from the movie and also printed out the rear view mirror hang tag. The tag is not the best but will work. Will post pics sometime tomorrow.
