I have been waiting for a Roadbuster head for that road buster.
But I wonder if there is a way for you to do something close to this?

Yea, it's pretty much gonna stay as is. The intention wasn't a G1 Roadbuster- one of those is already in stores. I designed the head keeping in mind the TFA stylization as best I could while drawing inspiration from both G1 and DotM Roadbusters. The character sheet is out and complete, the head has been finalized.

 

Ordered! Went with the white smooth head and couldn't decide on which visor so I ordered both a green and a transparent one. I figure the green one may give it more of the original G1 toy look but I also like the light colored blue tint you showed above. I'll be sure to post how they turned out once they arrive and I figure out what colors to use.

misternewuzer and f-primusunicron thanks for doing this. I've been hoping that someone would do so since this mold came out. There just isn't enough love shown towards Animated but here's hoping this is just the start of a new trend.

anyway, i hope you enjoy the set, , tips, paint before closing both halves of the head, because they have a locking tab that will probably break if you try to separate the head(maybe not, i made it big enough, but i still dont recommend doing that, or maybe sand it a bit), anyway, get the led trhough the neck joint then put the top part of the neck joint to lock it in place, and test if it works as intended, (you might need to either extend the wire or open the chest so it doesnt break) then install the eyes and both head halves, and then put the jaw)
there you go, fully articulated head with movable(not gimmick connected) jaw,and led eyes

 

Okay. HOW do you install the head? I have taken out screw after screw and I can't get the body to come apart.

Also, what color orange did you use?

 

Mixed amounts of yellow and orange with a hint of brown to get a good burnt orange.

Make sure you CAREFULLY knock out the pins on the hip flaps, if you don't remove the hip flaps you aren't splitting the body apart.

I honestly wish I had a Thing voice ship I could stick in there. I'd like to have Roadbuster say "It's clobberin' time!"

Nice touch adding the brown to the Guard Symbol :] And I love your idea for a Thing voice chip, I'm gonna have to do some digging around and see if that's a thing!

Wonderful job. Really looks great  I've always loved this repaint. If you ever do a classics style head for the body I'll be throwing my current classics road buster away for your upgrade!

I would, but the color match I had was craft paint, not model paint. WSF takes paint exceedingly well, so it wasn't an issue there. It wouldn't work on the hands at all unfortunately. :/

BUMP, stoking the fires for the TFA 10th Anniversary, I'd like to inspire more people to do upgrade kits, accessories, or even whole figures in celebration of this fan favorite series!

 

I didn’t know I needed this, but I need this.

I also need to find a tfa Roadbuster Magnus as I didn’t but him specifically because he had the same head as regular Magnus.

 

Yeah, you really do need this. It is a must have.
