This was honestly just a 'because I could' project. Soundwave was Rook with hands donated by TF1 Ironhide, Wave balljoints, and TF1 Soundwave's head. Frenzy and Rumble were simple repaints of Groove.
Thanks! Nah, I like them more as individuals not needing towed. The trailer would add cohesion, but with this being an afternoon project, I didn't think that far ahead. The molds do work so well together, and as these characters. Rook is officially my favorite CW limb-bot.
That is really sharp! How do you go about painting the major rub points (especially the little toothy gears inside the elbow)? Was thinking of doing a movie style Wreckage from Rook.
The elbow gears aren't gears. They don't click, so there isn't much rubbing. I taped them off just in case, and it worked well. For other rub points, I used a lot of tape and careful sanding.
Awesome stuff dude. The Rook mold suits Soundwave. Are you going to make a comms array for his alt mode or just leave it as is?
Excellent idea. Love that folks can find ways to use these crappy figs we're given to make such awesome bots.
Thanks! After messing around with the figure a bit more, I believe I will be making accessories for him. He needs his gun, shoulder cannon and something for alt mode. Thanks! Crappy? Hardly. Rook is an amazing figure, and easily one of my favorites of the line. After taking some of these CW figures apart, I can testify that they're solid, well made and loaded with detail. The plastic feels lighter than what we've been used to, but I honestly think the composition is slightly different now, which allows for solid pieces at a lighter weight.
