This one I'm really proud of...:)
I love the voyager O.P. mold, except for the the hood spoilers, which keep his truck mode from having a flat roof. When I started imaging what he'd look like without the spoilers, it occurred to me what he'd make an interesting DOTM Megatron...
-So, the roof has been re-engineered and re-built so as to be flat, with the new hood panels folding onto his back in bot mode. I had to add new shoulders to make up for the now missing spoiler sections.
-The thighs were replaced with those from a ROTF deluxe Ratchet to make them more beefy and panel-y.
-the forearms were rebuilt so as to have gundam 1/100 hands.
    -the feet were shortened.
The placeholder head is from Generations Voyager Sandstorm. I've been trying to find a decent megatron head, g1ish style that would be the right size, but have had no luck..suggestions anyone? I've tried a bunch of different ones but no luck so far...

Very cool. Why not Prime Megatron for a head? It's sort of a movie/animated hybrid, which is what Prime is all about.

Hmm...that's a definite possibility; a bit expensive, bit looks like it could be the right size...

I tried that one, but it's a bit small...I want something about the size of the placeholder head I'm using and TFP Megs is kind of tiny in comparison...

I love what you've done here. Really diggin' the new flat top you've given him...he looks fantastic.

I immediately thought Megatron when I first saw it, ad sure 'nuff, that's what you are going for.

I know TCracker used the deluxe "tank" Megs head for his Megatron custom from this same mold. It worked so well, IMO, that I made a copy for myself...if I still had mine, I'd send you some pics so you could see how it looks, but I gave that custom to a friend of mine here.

I'm really surprised that the Prime Megatron head is too small for this mold...I too would have thought that would work well....is it the head that's too small?...or just the face area itself?

If it's the head, and the face is fine, why not graft that face into the head you have on it now?...that would be a nice blend too!

Cheeers! I spent a lot of time on this one - completely hand painted instead of using spraypaint...
I tried the deluxe tank head as well..maybe I'll try again (just need to find it again - I think I may have bashed it into something else...)
I'm not sure why I'm being so difficult about the size of his noggin, but I love how Sandstorm's head is big enough that the figure almost has human proportions. Maybe I should try building a helmet onto his current head...hmmm....

Thanks man! Again, this project took forever because I just needed to get rid of those roof spoilers! Glad you like it!

Sweet. Any thought on adding spikes to the bumper?

The leg swap works really well on this. And who doesn't love articulated hands(get with it Hasbro!)? I would also suggest the Classics Meg head. It goes great with a lot of custom projects. The Sandstorm one just doesn't quite cut it unless you did epoxy work to it to bulk it up more.

I considered making him a bit more worn and Mad Max kind of thing to bring him closer to the movie Megs aesthetic, but then decided that I preferred to leave it as is. It was one of those trade offs where you keep wondering when to leave well enough alone..:D

Yeah, I'll try that one again...if only I can find that head in my bits boxes...
