He came out of nowhere, and quickly rose through Autobot rank until he was asked to join the Protectobots. He did well in rescue missions, but his passion was law enforcement and intelligence gathering. He was a mass shifter, something you don't see much these days, and used this ability to extend his limbs or increase the size of his hands for both offense and defense. Joked that he was the long arm of the law. Soon after taking his position with the team, he installed an additional sensor on his head to help detect energy signatures, supposedly for use in rescue ops. Seemingly indestructible, he throws himself into danger without hesitation, but this behavior didn't seem to match his intelligent, logical personality. Almost like he was overcompensating for something. -Rung, Data Journal Entry: 179G-L491 Pardon the fan-fiction. This was intended to be Longarm Prime, but then I figured Rook is a new guy with no real story, why not just keep the name. Obviously an homage to the Longarm Prime concept from TF:Animated, of which I've done a few. Incidentally if you google "longarm prime" one of my customs is the first image, which is awesome, unless you're trying to figure out the official color scheme. I ruined a couple other figures trying to complete this guy, so I'm waiting on some replacement parts to finish him off. I'll add a few more when I get everything in the shop. Thanks for taking a look, and let me know what you think.
Okay, this is AWESOME. I absolutely love the Rook mold, and you did it true justice. Having it as Longarm Prime just makes it all the more impressive. Question- are you dying the black parts or is that paint? I ask because Rit dye doesn't affect plastic any more, and I need an alternative.
Beautiful work sir. Love the paint work you put in. Crisp and Clean. Does the Animated homage stop here?...or does it follow it a tad more, to be revealed at a later date perhaps? None the less, it's awesome as is as. Always a fan!
I'm not familiar with the characters you are referring to but I like the color placement and paint job.
Aw man this is SICK. Long arm is one of my #1 animated characters and this is just to epic. What did you use for the crane arm though?
NOOO! Don't trust that guy, Protectobots! And don't let him near Highbrow and Ultra Magnus! On a serious note, I've long felt that Shockwave's Longarm colors from TF:A were the best colors he ever had. I LOVE that color scheme on, well, ANYTHING you paint!
Thanks everyone! Thank you, and yes...As you probably guessed the idea was to have him convert into (spoiler) Shockwave but I made some mistakes and have to wait for some replacement parts. The first idea was using the WFC Shockwave head, but I just kept cutting until it was ruined. Now he just has a placeholder eye until I can think of a new solution. I actually thought about using Rook's crotch as Shockwave's head, and may still do so if my other idea doesn't work. My original idea used Off Road: Even his chest has a bit of a Shockwave look: Using the Combiner connector mechanism for the new head: I'm surprised we haven't seen a Punch/Counterpunch using this mechanism yet. But then I got another idea for Off Road, and liked how Rook looked in gray. Check it out, it's actually a pretty awesome plot in the world of TF: Animated. Thank you. The crane is from the scout class Cybertron Armorhide, with some 5mm pegs added. Thanks man, love you too. The end game is to have a group of my favorite characters from all transformers history on two combiner teams. It's going to take years!
Thanks for the background info into this project, and for the work so far! Never occurred to me to use the combiner port mechanism into an alternate head; genius, and obvious at the same time!
Your work with mostly monochromatic schemes and subtle highlights always prove delightful. Add to this the incredible homage that works astoundingly well... and you've got a winner. Really dig the homage, and frankly if Has/Tak is missing out if neither try it later on. (In fact, this is perfect for Takara or e-Hobby since they won't put Rook with the Protectobots.) Suppose that Offroad with a hook can now be repainted into Hoist given that the mold is going to be used for his counterpart Trailbreaker.
Great job on the custom! I kinda like the RiD Hightower crane better, just cuz it can transform into that big ass gun. Maybe you can also try the riot shield mod?
