Hey guys, As a kid, Defensor was my favorite of all gestalts. I loved his dimensions and proportions. When CW Defensor came about, while he was not a bad rendition, I hated certain parts of him mainly that huge honking chest armor. It is too big and too black. I truly prefer the g1 version with some of the blue sticking out. I found out that by reversing the transformation, i achieved a couple of things: first, the chest area is more robust and gives him a heavier look. Second, the former chest armor is not a nice back piece and has slots for the "guns". Thirdly, I prefer to show the wheels. Lastly, the ladder can be used to place the add ons. So i sketched and sketched and you guys might have seen some of them here and there. I dont have a 3d printer, so i figured maybe I can see what my concept of a chest, abdomen and crotch armor would look like in 3d by use of clay. I do not have any proper tools; hence I could not for the life of me bring out the details that I would like but I will try again once the clay hardens. But for now, this is a work in progress. The crotch piece will have articulated wings on ball joints to move with the leg. What does everyone think?
Looks good! There are radicons here who work with 3D printers &/or Shapeways who take commissions. Might not be cheap tho. BUT. others may want these too. Maybe somebody's already working on it...?
Thanks for the feedback man. I thought I could get away withjust a couple of pieces, but as the clay rendering has shown me a lot. It is quite a learning experience. I have now done a study on the sides and how to incorporate the bits to the ladder torso and lower abdomen.....
Neat. I see the potential of also allowing the chest bits to partsform into accessories for the regular bots. At the very least, the crotch piece could be a blaster of some sort, the pecks can be smaller shields, and the backing to connect them can be a larger riot shield for Rook or Hotspot.
Nicely done. Although instead of messing around with clay, why not try to use a G1 defensor Chest Shield on ebay? If not, just get some legos and file off the unnecessary kibbles then paint. Rustoleom spray 2X is best for none attached robot parts for coating. Also, I know that it might get pricey, but if you know that you are going to use it for future projects, invest on a basic rotary tool. I got a basic rotary kit from Walmart for $19.99 that comes with basic rotary tips.
Thanks for the tip man the clay is a rough rough study of how to tackle the issues in 3d. If anyone can give me dimensions of the g1 chest that would be awesome. If it fits id love to fit it in. Ill probably need the abdomen and i want to know how to get around the crotch issue. If this can be done in a 3d printer it would be even better.
I have an original Defensor in storage as well as the CW version and can say that wouldn't work since g1 Hotspot is about modern deluxe height, even if you could get it to fit on it would be like an adult wearing a 5 year old's shirt.
