This is going to be a big project (lights etc), he started out as the plain white version, white face/legs etc, nothing in the pictures is finished, still very much a work in progress, just base coats added at the moment and will be rubbing some of the grey back on the legs later so more white shows through

Happy to have you guys along for the ride, its going to be a long one ... input always welcome :)

Nice work so far, especially loving the waist/hips/thighs. On such a premium figure Hasbro really should have done more paint apps, the all white look is pretty terrible.

Loving the little details too, like the painted cannons with yellow muzzles on the feet. Once the gray weathering on the legs is dialed back a bit this will be very, very nice.

Pictures of your technique would be good too. Masking, etc. And are you using an airbrush?

Thanks :)  ..i mostly paint free hand with Tamiya acrylic 10ml pot paints to avoid the orange peel effect of spraying and the hassle of masking and find it more rewarding (takes a lot longer though lol) the grey weathering was done with airbrush, just working it back with a magic sponge and water so it doesn't look like he's been sat on the moon for 100 years :D  ..also going to paint a lot of detail with glow in the dark paint. like you said, Hasbro could of made this alot, lot better with more paint apps, tons of detail on it to highlight, i'm going to be here till Christmas painting it all :lol

The confidence and patience to do it freehand... I don't now how you didn't get any paint on the eyes without masking.

So many details and panel lines to do... Will be nice to see his spaceship gun finally look like a spaceship too. Looking forward to seeing your progress (but don't rush for our sake!)

Going for more of a Cybertron Plex Colour scheme with the light up in the dark effect bringing him to life

The more i look at this white plastic, the more i dislike it ...grey/white it is then

Update:- done a couple more hours on rubbing the weathering down, painted the knee struts red and changed the thighs to dark grey, think the weathering on the leg is close to how i want it now

Paints arrived, yay!! ...done a little test sample on the left arm with the glow in the dark stuff, need some input as i'm undecided on the colours, what you all think about the orange and blue? should i change it for a red etc? ...it glows a lot stronger with the naked eye, looks like real neon lights but my camera's filter must of toned it down in the dark

Well, here's the test pics, need tidying/changing, some opinions would be great before i ruin it after all that hard work

Thanks for the input on the neon colours, guess i will just wing it then and go with the flow :peoples:  ... but still not sure about the orange, might change it to red or just keep the use of it to the min

Not done much to it today yet, just some touching up and painted the gun red

They are a pain in the arse, spent 3hrs just doing this tonight :lol  ...if you accidentally smear some or dont get the line/cirlce etc right you have to wipe it down which smears it everywhere, you cant see it with the naked eye but as soon as you put it under UV lighting its a real mess, it's slowing me down no end lol
