Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic...but here's my WIP MP Diaclone collection. Many thanks to Maz for his Diaclone pages that served as inspiration for the customs. As I said, these are WIPs (except for TTrack & Exhaust) so they are still in need of a few touch ups and a head on the yellow Datsun. I think I may re-do the chest on Clampdown as the clear-coat I used seems to have yellowed it a bit. ...more (better) pics to come as they get finished up.
Wow! Looks clean and well done !hey can you but some names besides clamdown exhaust and sis you come up wth Datsun
Thanks! Clampdown is on the far left, Exhaust is front-and-center, and the Datsun (haven't come up with a name yet...) custom came from a Diaclone concept drawing I saw on Maz's site.
Love your diaclones so far. I can't wait for more. I think , if the KO of Exhaust comes out, I'm gonna re-badge him as 599, and make him exhaust' brother. Maybe name him Intake?
Thanks all for the kind words... ...hey SQ...if you remember how long it took me to finish some of those ALT customs...it might be a while 'til these are done...
Holy Shit you've attempted the G1 Prowl Concept Art! Shogo Hasui posted that on his twitter a while back. Awesome! How did you get the tyres on the side of his arms, are those Smokescreen shoulders? Looks really awesome! Need some more photos of that one! How are you going to go about the head? I was thinking of doing one with the earpieces as detachable (how else can we get his head to fit in his chest after all?) Or like his ears could be added to his weapon as it attaches to his roof in vehicle mode. What recipe are you using for this one? What paint did you use?
Hey Bumble, thanks for the comments. He's getting there but I have a feeling it's going to be a while yet. Yep, those are Smokescreens arms. I had to cut the wheels off flush with the top of the sholders so that I could place them on the sides as they are now. Surprisingly, the wheels fit perfectly over the sides of the shoulders and will stay in place like that. I plan on drilling out a shallow hole on top of the shoulders so that the tires can peg in to them in vehicle mode. As for the head, I'm trying to figure a way that the ears could fold into the head somehow. I'll definitely get more pics up soon. I really wish we'd see more early concept art fron the Diaclone line. It'd be great to see how the production toys evolved from the original ideas. Can't wait to see your take on him...oh, and BTW... LOVE the Exhaust pics...!
Sounds really good, wonder if there's a way to put the tyres on the sides with no partsforming at all. Probably not! I too would love to see more of those early sketches. The only other one I've found is this Diaclone Devastator: Definitely drawn in the same style. Give that one a go next!!!
I'm thinking there might be a way to put the tires on some sort of slider or pivot, but for now I'm ok with a little bit of partsforming. That an awesome pic...!!! I just might try something like that...may have to take a little bit artistic license though... Haha... Look at the size of "Long Haul" compared to "Scrapper" AND the truck that makes up the torso. I wonder if those were designed/planned to turn into individual bots or were five vehicles that merged. Then again, being Diaclone, they probably were just vehicles (with little Diaclone drivers).
