so a few weeks back when I was at IPMS Blizzardcon 2015, I picked up a Jeep CJ-7 Model Kit and decided to turn it into a replica of one of the Jeeps from Jurassic Park (I realize the JP Jeeps were YJs, but I ain't shelling out $87 for the Tamiya Kit or its $200 motorized counterpart) now there will be a few differences between this thing and its on-screen counterparts (Lift height, Hubcaps, Doors which have been modified already, winch, just to name a few)
I still need to prime and paint the windscreen and assemble that subassembly, Paint the tailgate and mount the Spare tire rack, Paint the Wheel-hubs, mount the tires, Scratch-build the rollcage, and print out the branding details (I have the files for the Kenner JP Helicopter toy's Decal sheet [God bless the JP Toys forums], and its JP Logos are going to be useful in making all the Jurassic Park branding)
Here's a couple of WIP shots to show off my progress

Funny you should mention yours, I wanted to do something akin to what you're doing with your Alternators Swindles with my own Alternators Hound, but never could bring myself to purchase another Alternators Jeep Wrangler to modify and paint. (and speaking of which, I just realized the Alternators Jeep mold's Roll cage would make a good guide for the one I will eventually put on this thing when I make it out of stretched sprue) of course yours has the correct (albeit uncolored) door handles while I will just have to suffice by painting black squares on the doors where the handles would be since the included handles are those toilet-flusher types rather than the recessed squares wranglers have

    Onto my work!
Here's a shot of the Rear of the Jeep showing off my handywork with a paintbrush and a Gundam fine-point marker (that's NOT a decal, though the Jurassic Park logos on this thing will eventually be stickers since I can't draw worth a shit let alone replicate the JP font)

Here's a shot of the front, again focusing on my hand-painted license plate (those lights on the bumper were included with the kit, but weren't meant to be used on the bumper) [IMG]

Here's a side view. As you can see, the Jeep is almost done, just gotta make the roll cage and print some stickers. The number 21 on the Trike Stripe was painted by me

    And the other side

as an addition note, the doors as seen in these images are actually the wrong shape at their leading edge. they should angle into the frame rather than angle into the top and go straight across. I fixed that about an hour ago (though these images were taken shortly before my post earlier this afternoon.
Further Note; I WANT to do one of the Explorer tour vehicles, but unfortunately, my only option for a kit to use to make it is that godawful kit by Lindberg and I want nothing to do with their Jurassic Park kits (licensed or not, the Lindberg kits are shit)

At one point, I was going to turn an Alt Jeep into the JP one... then I got lazy halfway and didn't.

But yeah, masking tape. Though I kinda like the rough edges. Fits a motif that John Hammond might use as a gimmick for the park.

After pulling Alternators Hound out of storage, I'm seriously considering taking his rollcage and using it with my JP jeep. It's in scale with my JP jeep (1:24) and it's not like the roll cage has any use in hound's robot mode.

    Alright, Update time.

Got the Roll cage fabricated from some Spare Sprue I had lying around. Here's the Jeep with the newly-recut doors and the unpainted Roll cage.

I did a little math and it turns out the door logos are going to be about 1.6 cm across while the Logos that will eventually be on the License plates will only be about 8 mm across. Talk about tiny stickers.

Got the Roll cage painted up yesterday and earlier today I got the itty-bitty Jurassic Park Logos printed out and applied to their respective spots on the Jeep

Shot of the Side of my nearly-finished Jurassic Park CJ-7 showing off the Door Logo and the almost-visible numeration on the hood
    [IMG]

A shot of the front of my Jurassic Park CJ-7 showing off the front License Plate and the hand-painted Hood numeral.

A closeup shot of the Rear license plate of my Jurassic Park CJ-7. The Jurassic Park Logo on the license plate is a sticker almost 8 mm wide.

Here's a shot of the Jeep's interior. the floor is the same shade of grey (IE, light Ghost Grey according to the jar) as the rest of the body of the Jeep because... there aren't too many shots of the interiors of the Jeeps in Jurassic Park and CJ-7's floors weren't upholstered like those of their Successor (YJ/Wrangler) so they would have been sheet-metal anyway like the rest of the body.

I still have to make an extended Antenna, paint the lip of the bed, paint the top of the doors and retouch some spots here and there.
