Man that's spiffy. Gave a great reason for folks to pick up what is otherwise a passable repaint.

With the Coat folded back it looks a bit like coat tails. I wonder how he's look holding the Dr. Wu cane.

Love it when a poor redco becomes purposeful, and this looks great.

Still cant waiting for the final release. BTW, about the wing paint job, i think a thin notch, or a strip would help a bit.

the way these nylon 3d prints work, they absorb pigment really crazy which means its great for dying but you cannot control how much the pigment spreads/bleeds. the bleeding is much less severe if you already have the base dyed, but for a base white print and you want to keep it white..... it's still lethal.

think of it like cancer, it spreads and you cannot stop it unless it spreads throughout the whole piece

a notch will not help stop the bleeding as its still one piece for the pigment to spread. a separate strip piece will solve the problem but will involve much more pieces in the kit which will drive up costs and potential fitment issues. or you spray paint the wing but you will have to mask it and i dunno if that will stop the bleeding either

either way, red vinyl tape + exacto blade works, i tried and that will be the suggested method in adding the red stripes on the wings. learned it from tfcon custom class lol

Cool! So glad I held off on picking up an old G1 Tracks and using the missiles and wings from that. Can't wait.

Nice work on this kit! I'm planning on picking this up when it comes available, but I intend to turn Crosshairs into Road Rage instead. I think the figure has a very feminine build and will look great next to my CHUG Tracks.

oh snap, i was planning to sell it next week

sale ends aug 09 5PM pacific time, ok gotta hurry up i guess.

that being said, i only offer my stuff in WSF polished, so i dunno if the 50% discount will apply for all other SF materials, including WSF polished. need to look into this

    ADD:
i just tested the shopping cart myself. 50% discount only applies to white strong flexible ONLY, doesnt apply to dyed or polished variants. do you wanna settle for the grainy version of my kit? if so i guess i can put it up for sale before sunday, but be forewarned of the unpolished finish/look

Polished and dyed don't apply? Man... the latter hurts for some items I wanted. As for the former, I've only bought polished materials previously. Having limited knowledge about the materials, I wouldn't know if I had the patience or tools to sand/polish small parts...

If you were going to release it later, then don't release it early on my account. Thank you for replying so swiftly in any regards.

no worries, the kit is pretty much done and i was planning to release it next week anyways.

everyone's different but to some, the half price may justify the grainy finish. so i am going to try to release the kit this weekend so those who wanna take advantage of half price discount can do so, as long as they are aware of the unpolished feel

the kit's going to be tentatively $25, so decide if $12.5 matters to you for a polished finish. for me, test parts are fine for unpolished, but final products no way....but thats just me

Ya know, this would make a good Prime Tracks.

I already have classics, so, not my thing, but still.

Oh so 25 is for the polished finish? I've gotten items in a polished finish in the past, and they look just fine in hand. I'll get around to ordering it in the near future... because I recently picked the base figure up with this set in mind, actually. Wouldn't be too hard to paint since it's a few red bits and done. (Still have other Shapeways items unpainted because well... I don't have a steady hand for this stuff. >_<)

the kit is now available for purchase. yes $25 is for the polished finish. if you want to take advantage of the half price this weekend for UNpolished, then it's $12.5 i guess

ya most of the kit can be left unpainted, but be careful that the bare base white print is very sensitive to dirt and smudges. if your fingers are dirty or have other color paints on your hand, and you touch the prints, it will get dirty and will get dull in time. in the long run, unless you are sure you can keep the prints clean, get a can of white spray paint.

here's the poor man's approach to getting color on this thing:
    - red stripes on wings can be done by applying red wiring tape ($1-2 at home depot) and stencil it out with an exacto-blade. this way you are guaranteed to get a smooth straight line on the stripes
    - black backpack can be colored with a black sharpie if you are on the frugal side (i prefer using gundam markers or dying it black however)
    - same with the face but with a red sharpie

for shapeways sales, i ALWAYS till the last minute before i order and apply coupon codes lol

really, there's no benefit to rush in and order IMHO......unless you are in a rush to get something printed and shipped to you
