I know, it's an old figure but I've been wanting to get around to this for a long time. I originally attempted this back when he was released, but had multiple issues during the process and abandoned it. I was asked recently to do a tutorial on graphics, so I dug this out of a box, stripped it down and started over. The blue is a custom mixed blue metallic HoK, with a blue candy overcoat. I hand cut a stencil for the hood graphic, then airbrushed various HoK paints to create what you see here. I'm still getting the hang of the technique, but pretty satisfied with the results. After sealing it with Alclad gloss clear, it was micro polished up to 12000 grit, then buffed smooth as glass.
Beautiful! So nice that I'm using that last pic as my phone background. How hard is it to learn to get proficient with an airbrush?
Thanks man, I'm flattered. I've been at it for several years, almost 10 actually. Been at it at the very least 3 times a week in that time, for a while every day. You just have to stick with it and push yourself, don't be afraid to try and test your limits, and most importantly, have fun with it. Thank you!
That is some work you got there.. Excellent use of paints... Those colors pop.. Looks like it was meant to be that way.. I really need to buy an airbrush and compressor..
Amazing work! I've been pining for a decent Tracks after they announced the upcoming MP-25 Tracks, the rts one is just kinda blah. But you took this figure and brought it to life! I hope to see more of your work!
I can't get over how amazingly beautiful this one is. If it were mine, it would be under glass to protect it.
Thank you everyone! He's currently listed on Ebay if anyone is interested, hoping he goes to a good home.
