Took the oversized KO of Prime Abominus, cut apart/replaced almost all of the bot mode limbs (substituted with Prime Predacon limbs for articulation), and created a more G1 combiner - in terms of proportion, head, and chestplate. Painted mostly with citadel and a few tamiyas

    With Superion for reference

(elbows are botmode thighs -like Combiner wars. Weight makes it hard to stay in a bent position, however)

Great and awesome work. To bad there is not any way to make those thighs bigger.

    Individual bots

Hun Grr - Only Predacon without knees - didn't want to mess with the original (too tight/thin where I would be connecting bits). Arms replaced with Predacon Laserback

Blot - Legs from Grimwing and arms from Laserback

Sinnertwin - Instead of neck/head hands, they're on the back, like G1. Arms given from the female Predacon dragon and his legs are the bicep/forearm of voyager Predaking

Yeah. With a few G1 + lego parts and the individual bot limbs from the mainline Prime Predacons (I sacrificed my whole Predacon shelf for this custom!).

I used the socket/ratchet joints that come in the 3-in-1 sets (used for robot joints in those sets). That's the shoulders of abominus. The socket joint (looks like a turbine) was drilled/plugged into the torso of Sinnertwin and attached to the back of Cutthroat.

There's a shoulder assembly that isn't very big, but contains the head (g1), the chest shield (g1), and two shoulder joints. The g1 head is on a balljoint via bionacle balljoints that were carved up and drilled to fit. The chest and shoulders sit on a mess of regular lego blocks to keep everything connected. The legos were glued together with superglue and all visible lego pegs were sanded off/smooth. The entire long/short joint assembly plugs into the top of Hun Grr almost like the way Hook plugs on top of long haul when the constructicons form devastator. The piece isn't huge, as I am not a fan of extra parts, but it's small and has the shoulders, head, and chestplate. That assembly fits into hun grr with a lego technic peg and a drilled hole.

The individual bots have their predacon limbs listed alongside them. It's just a matter of cutting, sanding, and gluing in a way that they fit together. Only one figure (Rippersnapper) required screws. The arm assembly of grimwing is huge and curvy. Not a simple glue/epoxy spot.

The legs connect in combiner mode with the regular KO abominus connection. the forearm armor is made out of modified Prime voyager Optimus Prime legs and Optimal Optimus fists. Each one is different to fit the connection points native to the figure (Suffice to day, Abominus has one configuration and is not 'scramble city.')

    The 'hook' assembly

    Give it a try man.

I've done two combiners - Abominus and Piranacon.

Piranacon was made from FoC Bruticus and was heavily modded to turn tanks and helicopters into sea monsters...but the original combination points and articulation was kept from Bruticus.

On this set, the bashing was heavy, but it was because I was creating articulation and combination where it wasn't present.

Next time I touch a combiner I'll probably try something new again. It's all about progression. Just try bashing/changing something/anything and your next project will be better and you'll keep learning.

Very cool. Normally he is my least fav combiner team, but this looks really good. I really like that G1 looking head too.

    This is almost perfect!
You should design some clip on parts to bulk up the thighs ;)

    Thanks.

As for the thighs,I had thought of that, but worried about chipping, since it would have to be a friction hold.

You guys think the optimal optimus gun would be too small for the combiner?
