Hegemon stock, mag, scope, tummy The stock that came with Hegemon was terrible. Since I did not think any 3rd party was going to come out with one I made this add on custom. Used part of the Hegemon stock that clipped under the gun and attatched a G1 Megatron slide that is used to hold on his stock. Now even on it's own it is great because it bulks out the butt of the handle and resembles a clip. The stock was G1 Megatron with a length of grey pvc round connecting the front and back parts. The whole thing was painted black. I wanted part of the stock round so that it resembled the cartoon and longish so that he felt comfortable tucked into my shoulder in firing stance. After photographing I realized if I drilled a 5mm peghole the buttend/clip could be clipped on to the back of Hegemon's leg. Figured out where hole should be by putting a little paint on the peg and lining up then gently pushing to "stamp" where the hole needed to be. The trigger on leg? Just wanted to balance it out a bit. Maybe I will come up with a clever way for it to look better. Open to suggestions. Decals are from Transfer-Logic on Chimungmung's site. Thanks for looking!, hope this mod is helpful. -non-metal UPDATES: Magazine/Clip, Scope and newest, Stomach Panels. SEE POSTS BELOW!
I would see if it could be put vertical on the back, like in the Marvel comics version. That said, I like the stock work here. I definitely see the cartoon aspect worked into the piece.
Thanks JackKnife. As you suggested I posted a pic of the trigger vertical up the back. Looks cool. Like IDW comic, and I have a suspicion Toyworld put the ports in the trigger piece for this option. I might prefer the trigger flush to his back though. UPDATE: Added 3 new pics above Magazine clip was added to the bottom of the handle piece. I used a piece of swirly grey plastic which is a nice color match. The bottom of the clip is a little largish but at the same time Hegemon's gun proportions are all over the place. What I will do is add the magazine ejector which goes at the back of the magazine. It should not hinder being able to be clipped to his leg because of the hollow spot where his foot goes.
Update Cut down magazine end added a piece of black styrene and key from a keboard for magazine release. Still fits on back of leg albeit not as nicely. May someday reconstruct slide for stock out of silver plastic. It would look nice as a heel spur. I could paint it but it is a risky area for paint rubbing. EVEN MORE Scope! Made so that it could lengthen for gun mode. Used a piece of the same pvc plastic I used for the stock extender. It fit like a glove! Now the scope looks like it could... well scope something.. while retaining ability to be proper length for Megatron's robot mode. Last picture is scope compressed.
FINAL UPDATE I painted Hegemon's stomach as other Radicon's have done. I liked the look but not in gun mode so I added a couple of panels to cover up his red bits that matched the color of silvery grey plastic. I also scratch built a barrel retaining lever and slide stop lever to go one each panel. They are not the most realistic looking but they make him look a little more interesting. In robot mode with the panel's folded back there is just enough clearance for the trigger to slot in. I also cut apart a spare trigger to use plastic to fill in gaps on the right side of the trigger so that he looks a little better in gun mode on his reverse side. Note the pieces turned out a little bit smaller because the slots on the trigger are smaller at the bottom of the crevice than the top, in other words it tapers. Thanks for looking. I love this version of Megatron. While not the most realistic, he is really sturdy, not overly complex, and just a lot of fun. It is also really cool that he scales so nicely to the hand in gun mode. I think I am done customizing him, though maybe someday a bigger head or perhaps some chrome job... -nonmetal
