Minor paint touchups & a few G1 reprolabels to make Skydive more G1-ish.

I really love this bot, but the Takara version won't happen until June, hence
    the repaint now.

    - Black top wings
    - Powder blue tailfins
    - Partially gray painted rubber nose cone which optically lengthens the jet
    - G1 reprolabels to mirror the upcoming Takara Skydive
    - Red rectangles on top of the jetfuselage painted gray

    Enjoy !

Really good. Does the appearance of spinister imply anything?

Eh, nope.... I just thought they look nice together and pretty close in scale.

    very nice job knoted.

the g1 lightning bolts look better on there than I thought they would.

Painting part of the nosecone grey has an amazing effect on that jet mode.

Yes, missiles painted gray like the fuselage.

I did see Reprolabel's new CW Skydive set, but I am glad I went with the G1 stickers instead.

@ Incapable hulk ; thanks ! Yeah... the rubber nose cone has this groove in it
and nubs on the side...these details indicate exactly where the fuselage structure and radome cone meet ; which makes it easier to paint.

I'm still debating whether I will paint the red "air intakes" black, because imho, it's still showing a bit too much red in jetmode.

    Great job!

How well do the wing stickers stay on?

    Thanks !

The wing stickers stay on very well.
However, it's the chest stickers, covering the screwholes...those have a bit of a problem staying put because they're barely larger than the screwholes - thus
the adhesive contact area is barely sufficient.

Anyway, as announced ; I have painted the air intakes black as well as parts of the torso - in order to minimize the amount of visible red, in jetmode. It's that typical Aerialbots "thing" which kind of pretends to hide all robot bits and colors when in jetmode.
It was a bit of an ordeal, because sanding and masking the air-intakes was a pain in the but. Results are not 100% to my satisfaction in terms of paintjob tidiness ( but all of it is nicely covered in matte varnish ), but oh well... here are the pics:

Hmmmm, I have mine Reprolabeled up, but I'm not crazy about how they did the wings. I might have to bite from your idea and try it out.

Did you just spray the wings completely black, then apply the labels?

I went straight for the G1 Superion stickers.

First, I stripped the paint off the wings, fully sprayed them using black primer - top surface of the wings 1 coat of black acrylic paint, bottom surface partially black and partially gray alike the plastic gray, including the missiles, then all in 1 coat of matte varnish. - Let it cure for a couple of days, then applied the stickers.

    Wow, nice work.

So I assume you disassembled the figure in order to just work on the wings?

Is that a difficult process? I don't have the figure in front of me, so it's difficult to envision that process. Can you elaborate on that?

disassembly and re-assembly is simple. You can carefully snap the wings off that plastic hinge. Use a gentle upward or side way pull. There's no (metallic) pin running through it, just tiny plastic nubs/pegs which snap the wing right back into place when you're done.

    Werd! Thanks man.

Ok last question, lol....did you remove the paint using the same tactic as the Jetfire Chrome Removal process? Denatured alcohol and whatnot?

I used acetonic nail polish remover. Careful though, it's aggressive stuff, I only soaked a paper towel a bit and started rubbing off the paint. Then one last pass with a shorthair brush to clean the panel line creases.
