So as some of you may know I've been on a real Gobot spree lately. I won't lie I hadn't really planned on building this character until I saw Stormvapors awesome Energon Staks http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/1018589-3-kings-day-energon-staks.html?highlight=staks After seeing that I became almost obsessed with doing one for my collection. While looking for a good base figure to start with I came across First Strike Optimus who in my opinion looks a lot more orange than red. After watching a review on him and seeing his transformation I knew this was it. So I snagged one and got to work. Actually there was very little work to do. I just mis-transformed him a little and painted on the yellow stripes. Nice and simple!! Big thanks to Stormvapor for motivating to build a Staks of my own!!!! Hope you guys like what you see
Nice, I've got the same OP with the same intentions, but was going to do something where the cab head was a battle helm a la marvels Juggernaut. But this looks so much like the source figure. How did you go about the mis-transformation?
this is pretty cool. the mis-transformation works amazingly well. between you and Stormvapor, you two are gonna make me want a Staks myself!
awesome....reminds me of the good ol' days when fellow customizers inspired each other to do, and often emulated each others work.
OK, I cry shenanigans! I dug my OP out and for the life of me can NOT figure out how you mistransformed him, there has to be some cutting and removal of parts. Help us out bro, we're all dying to have a voyager Staks in out collection. Especially Stormvapor.
Thanks a lot!!!! Thanks.Glad you like him!! Thanks man Thanks bud!!! GO FOR IT!!!!! You know you want to lol Thanks man. I was hoping that the king of Staks would approve!!! Thanks man. Go for it bro!!! Make sure you share it with us Thanks bud!!! Yeah it does. I was thinking the exact same thing when I first got it Yes I did. I'll explain below Hell yeah!!! That's what it's all about OK guys, first off let me apologize. I simply said I mis-transformes it which is true but I did have to do a little cutting to do it right. Here are some pics to help First this is the stock mode. As you can see I removed the stock head and ground out a slot. This allowed me to rotate the whole section 180 degrees so now it sits like this As for the chest. That's real simple. I first removed the screws from the front end. There are three total. The 2 on the side you'll have to drill to get to. Just look for the small circular gas cap looking things and drill there. The third is behind the front right tire.Once you remove them you can put them away because you won't need them. After you get it off and away from the figure simply glue the loose end of the pin into it's respective side then clip it right in the middle.Don't forget to cut the grill right down the middle and you're done. This will allow the two pieces to slide together for truck mode and apart for bot mode. It literally took me about 10 to 15 minutes to do this. I hope this helps you guys out
Thank you, yes it does help, very much. Especially the part about drilling through the gas cap looking covers. As always, your customs are always inspiring. We're all looking forward to the other Gobots on your bench.
