I like how combiner wars Aerialbots bow to G1 counterparts, but I somehow did not like the cartoon-accurate head of skydive, and fireflight's head on slingshot's body.

So I started off working on these heads and soon this spiraled into a large project.

2.3 Thrust-vectoring nozzles
These parts replaces the shoulders of the Firefly figure to resemble the G1 character card design. The smaller nozzles can be glued onto the lower arm after the finger guns are cut off.

5 Barrel Roll
Yes this oddish colored Aerialbot. Will do a head for the new CW Air Raid body.

6 Blades
Blades upgrade parts are made for Alpha-Bravo (or the upcoming wave 2 Blades figure). The design is based on his appearance in IDW "MTMTE" comics.

6.2 G1 toy weapons
These weapons are replica of those of the G1 toy. The larger canons can be pegged on the helicopter but in bot mode they are a bit hard to store.

6.3 G1 lower arms with landing skids
Replaces the toy's missile arms with more harmless arms featuring G1-style landing skids!

7 Skyfeather
I never knew the character Skyfeather existed, until member marvel b told me about them. Well it seem like this is an interesting project based on just a sketch.



7.1 G1 head
Although this guy is a red and white bot, I somehow think the Skydive mold is a better fit for this mod.

7.2 G1 wings and blaster
The Skydive wings are very easy to take off. This set is a straight replacement. Another reason I chose Skydive over Firefly for this bot.
The blaster is sold separately in case you want to just reuse the weapons from skydive

8 Spinister
Spinister aka "Huge Fan" - I got this idea when so many folks repainted A-B into Vortex.

8.1 IDW-style Head
The first test did not turn up so well. The neck joint of Alpha Bravo is slightly lower than that of Fireflight and I used a common template - long story short the head sits too low and forward. Working on improved v.2...


Made a 2nd version with longer crest and different mouth plate.

9 Needlenose
How can we have Spinister without his double targetmaster pal Needlenose? Although having a very different transformation sequence, I guess Skydive is still a good foundation for Needlenose, since he is really the only decent F-16 mold in recent years!

Retooled to fit the TFCC Needlenose figure based on Fireflight body, having a 6mm ball joint slot and two-piece design.

10 Dreadwind
I plan to use again Skydive figure as a base for Dreadwind. A new head will be sufficient? do we mind if the cockpit is not on his chest?

DreadWind kit is based on the design from "limelight: Dreadwind" on DA and consists of: (1) shoulder pads and hip joints (2) lower arms and fists (3) guns

11 Darkwing
Although Darkwing is supposed to be a Panavia Tornado but the new Air Raid's F-14 like swept wing body is good enough. A new head and set of weapons to go with him.

11.1 IDW-style Head
This design is based on "Stormbringer" comics. I am ASSUMING the neck ball joint of air raid is the same size as skydive which is a 4mm ball. This BETA is based on the said assumption.

12 Misfire

My favorite scavenger, now available with a head that fits either the CW arialbots Skydive/Air Raid, or Generations Armada Starscream!

13 Windsweeper
TFCC will be releasing Windsweeper using Skydive body - I personally think that's the wrong choice. Should have used Firefly body for it. In either case, I made a Windsweeper head for the 6mm ball joint on Firefly. And if anyone who bought the TFCC figure like to use this, I also have made a 4mm to 6mm ball joint adaptor for you!

You taking suggestions for other heads

 

Those heads look great, and that Slingshot head is going into my next Shapeways order for sure. As for suggestions, I would love to see a head for CHUG Trailbreaker that looks like the G1 toy head.

I'd love a Firestar head for the GEN Kup/Swerve mold and a Elita-1 head for the GEN Blur/Drift mold...

 

I like the standard head on Skydive, but your Slingshot head is almost spot on, really nice.

It's based on the G1 toy. Also, great head molds! I don't buy from shapeways, but I really like that Slingshot head.

 

Looking great so far though I can't see any details on the second Skydive head. Any chance for a new Sludge head for the Fansproject figure? The stock head is terrible! Anyways looking forward to these, I agree the stock Skydive head just doesn't look good as Skydive.

I repainted my dragstrip head so it was more toon accurate. any chance you are working on a boxy head for him that's toon accurate?
