Xehndinavia: Xehn's Shapeways Shenanigans (RID Prime Upgrade!) EDIT: New item on Page 2! Hello, TFW! Recently I've been screwing around with modelling up some junk to toss on shapeways for my own use and I thought I'd share with you guys here! The first of my tinkerings I'm calling the Binary Gun Coupling. I don't like the large cannon the various -Commander armors Fansproject have done come with. It's giant, it's awkward to pose them with, and doesn't really look much like a useful gun. That said, I still wanted my Shadow Commander to have a big gun. Neither his big rifle nor his smaller double-barrel gun worked alone for that. So, I quickly decided what to do, and after a number of test prints, I've settled on a final design! Seen here is an earlier design demonstrating the intended use: This piece should fit just about perfectly; I haven't ordered the final yet, but the only things to change from the prototype are the detail on the sides and the added hook on the back of the coupling. If you'd like one, you can get it here. The second item, I made completely for fun and I imagine most people won't be able to get much use out of it I'm calling it the Quad Blade Hub. This item allows owners of two sets of Voyager AoE Drift swords to combine them into a giant windmill shuriken... ...or helicopter blades, if you prefer. Included are two adapters: one is a double-ended 5mm peg, the other is a 5mm peg handle for Drift (or someone else) to hold the combined whirlyblade of death by. My measurements weren't perfect. The 5mm connectors are pretty tight, but a little sanding and they'll fit into the hub just fine. To the same end, on my sample two sides of the hub weren't tight enough and don't hold the swords well at all; A small strip of masking tape or two is enough to give them satisfactory grip. Like the binary gun coupling, if you're interested in the hub, get it here. If you're interested or have any suggestions, hit me up! Just... ...don't expect miracles. I'm still pretty darn new at this.
Now there's an idea I surprisingly hadn't thought of! Just gotta turn the rotor hub into a 5mm peg, I'd think.
No no, I'm thinking of grafting the old part that plugs in to the chest onto the double ended part. Much easier
That would do it, too! I'd like to see what you can do with it. Might give me ideas for the spare parts left over from my unfinished Skyhammer-to-Silverbolt part swap...
I'm deciding on a few other Shapeways things and clkkicking buy probably tomorrow. I'll be sure to post pics here.
Thanks, F-P. Last night/this morning I started tinkering with an idea that would save me some money because I have no pinecone man to steal weapons from. The pinecone man was exclusive and kinda expensive, and the Arms Change version's weapon isn't as detailed... and my Kiwami Arms Gaim needs more weapons. This is mostly an experiment to see how much printing these weapons will be, starting with the one I thought was the simplest. Hello, everybody! It's been a while. I've done a few little things off and on since my last post, but I'm working on something new now and it's far more... substantial a project! At the very least it involves disassembling something and replacing parts. So. MYSTERY WIP:
that mystery WIP is a WIP no longer. Mostly! Replacement shoulders for Warrior-Class RID Optimus Prime! (pictures are just one arm's worth of parts so you can see better, shapeways link is both arms.) These shoulders add an extra point of lateral articulation so you don't have to use, or to be used in conjunction with, the transformation joint. Going to order a set with my next order and make sure everything works fine, then I'll let you guys at 'em.
