I know this conversion of FOC Shockwave to a more classics style has been done a few times before. And, as a result, I owe the inspiration for the leg swap to those that have walked the same path previously.

However, I did want to try something slightly different to get to my interpretation of that modern take on such an iconic and classic character.

So, first off, I really liked the FOC design for Shockwave, both robot and space ship. My only real issue was that he was a bit short in robot mode. Hence, the leg swap from Cyclonus (which is a great mod on its own). Sadly, this sacrifices his rather cool looking alt mode (for now at least...although I am trying to think of a way to modify the new legs such that a ship mode is still feasible).

Once I swapped the legs, I decided to do a more uniform, and G1 esque colour scheme by painting the legs, arms and hands.

Then it was the gun arm....at first I thought about going for Megatron31's custom gun arm attachment. But, I thought I'd try and stick more to the angular style of FOC Shockwave and decided to chop up his gun/minion thing that I wasn't that impressed with anyway in order to get to a hand cannon that matched the futuristic aesthetic.

Once the gun arm was sorted, I then figured I'd fit a cannon hose. Took me a while to find the right one and again, I wanted something that complemented the FOC styling. So, I purchased fakebuster83's DOTM hose design from shapeways. Well, it arrived, it's fitted, and for now, my classics Shockwave is in good order. I may still try and figure out how to mod the legs to bring back the space ship alt mode but that will be for another time.

    Anyway, hope you like...

Looks great! I am working on the same thing. However, the Cyclonus legs that I have are very loose. Did this happen to you? If so, any ideas how to get a tight fit?

The legs I used were pretty tight. So, not a problem for me. However, to tighten up the joints I believe a coating of thin or extra thin model glue could help on the joint. A harder acrylic like nail polish may also help.
If it is the knee joint on the legs, you'd have a bit of a task taking it apart to coat the right parts but it can be done. The upper thigh swivel joint is a bit easier. It just pops out.
Good luck trying to fix it.

Very nice mod! The leg swap looks good but I really like your original take on the gun and it's just not Shockwave without a cannon hose. Nice work:thumb . It would be nice if someone could figure out a good alt mode with the leg swap in place. Maybe you'll have some success there too. Even without an alt mode though, it makes a great bot mode!

Thanks for the feedback. I have to admit I love that hose. Fakebusker83 did a great job with it and it does make a big difference.

I tried a bunch of leg positions before I ended up with the one in the pics above (which probably looks closest to the original FOC ship).
The good thing about this figure is that it can have lots of alt mode options. The bad news is, they're all just ok. None of them great.
