Hoo boy, this is the one I've been dying to show off, and he finally arrived today! Yes, it's my first attempt at a full figure, annnnnnnd, it's Rung!

He doesn't transform, alas (to fit in with the SuperFanArt guidelines), so in exchange for that, I've tried to make him as poseable as I can, with ball-jointed everythings (except the wrists and waist, which are on mushroom joints), an ab crunch, and of course, poseable eyebrows.

I've also scaled him to match with existing Generations and Classics deluxe figures, so he'll slot nicely into existing displays.

The only issue with it was that the joints were quite loose out of the packet, but that's easy enough to fix with the ol' superglue/nail polish trick. Just, er, don't do what I did and reassemble him before the glue's dried.

Yeah, I know, schoolboy error. I was overexcited! I'll just say that his permanently straight leg is a war wound. :p

He's available to buy now on my Shapeways store, and as always, feedback and comments are very, very welcome! :D

I'm not sure that he meets the tolerances for alumide, at the minute, so without some serious tweaking... maybe (a slim maybe, if I'm honest) in future, but at the moment, no, not yet.

    Had to be done! :D

Awww. That's my favorite material. Super strong and crisp detail. Just has a big issue with tolorances.

I mean, thank you for helping me resist a $50 purchase. :p

Now unpolished alumide, that's a different story... he has passed all the wall thickness checks for that... ;)

    ETA:
Oh, and when full colour plastic arrives as an option for all designers, I will make him available in that, although I suspect he'll cost a fair bit more, 'cos of the colours, natch.

    Thanks very much. :D

    Thanks very much. :D

There shall be more figures coming in my TF Comics Tributes series, I'm aiming for the same level of poseability with all of them. Well, minus the eyebrows, of course. And minus half of his armour superstructure in the case of one of them... ;)

    Thanks very much!

You've no idea how cool it is to hear that from someone with a TRANSFORMING BLOODY TARDIS in his profile. :D

    Also, those scraplets are love.

This is almost too beautiful for words. Hats off to you, my friend. You have something special here. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on this right now but this isn't the best time of the year for discretionary spending.

How often does Shapeways have sales or coupons? I know they just had a deal on Cyber Monday, but I don't remember deals like that coming around too often.

    Thanks very much. :)

My plan with these TF Comics Tributes is to make figures of characters who've either never had toys, or who haven't had a toy of their current body. And it'll not just be IDW, either, there may well be some G1 characters coming down the pipe... ;)

Hmm, not a clue, sorry. I missed that Cyber Monday deal when ordering Rung, I was ever so slightly gutted. lol

Here! Here! I agree with all of the above! Great work! The working eyebrows really sell it. I wasn't familiar with this character, but you've got me interested in him.
I've done a bit of tinkering with ball jointed humanoid figures and I can relate to what a beast they can be to get to work. Sometimes getting everything to work can be as simple as painting the parts first. Or clear coating them. I'm a big Krazy Glue fan, (in the brush on bottle) but another big winner for me is Zap A Gap. There's a spray on hardener called "Zip Kicker" you can get for it that instantly cures it, so you don't have to worry about the drying time.
    Once again, great design.

I might have to get one of those Seeker heads of yours, BTW. I messed up the face on my Starscream ages ago trying to cut a smile into it.
