This was my first commission project for another board member, and while it took me a lot longer than I expected to get started on it, it was a lot of fun. The base figure was the Takara Cyberverse Smokescreen (a much better choice than the weird silvery Hasbro version). I started by removing the paint from the doors and headlights, then went to work. I was surprised by how little paint he had to start (which was possibly a blessing for the project). I added in a lot of black, painted on the signature visor (the head was too small for me to make a real visor), added in some gunmetal, silver, and a touch of red for additional bot and vehicle details, and finished things off with some added blue for the door stripe and to touch up a few spots where the original paint apps were lacking (there were some pretty big paint gaps on the hood / roof). Once that was all done I picked up some dry transfers to get the 4's on the doors, and then topcoated with Future. I didn't take any before shots, but snagged a stock photo of him. Here he is in all his finished glory, TF Prime Jazz! Bot Vehicle Thanks for looking!
Excellent work! This mold really works well as Jazz and I am really shocked Hasbro never did this themselves.
I kept picturing IDW Jazz while I was working, so I must have picked right Thanks! Thanks! He really feels like he's got some personality now. I'm consistently amazed when just a bit of paint can make something totally different! I know, right? I was really surprised when they went with the Prowl repaint instead. Thanks! Thanks! I was quite surprised by just how little paint the Takara version had. But that did make it a LOT easier for me to get to work on him. I dig his transformation a lot more than the BH deluxe version, and with a handful of joints added in he'd be really nice upsized to a deluxe.
