I just had to have this not TFC ,not Dinobots .I was s bit iffy at first, mostly because of the incorrect and unfinished transformations in the early reviews, but all my doubts faded when I realized Grimlocks hips can be TFd to extend his height and brought together. My biggest project so far.5 figures at once, all with their individual flaws and more or less needy mods.First off I articulated the leader because the original figure didn't have lateral arm movement. The process was pretty tough, the space seemed big enough but cramming it in all together proved to be anything but.. Check it out,I'll be posting the rest of the team soon.
Next up:Snarl By far the most frustrating figure in this set.He just didn't want to stay locked in limb mode.So here's what I did. Had to cut a bit of his feet to make it work..Here you see it in position. A pin to hold it in place. And here it is. And then I realized I had to flip his thigh around and drill deeper holes for the bigger screws to replace the old ones..Didn't take any pics during that process but believe me it was a long night.here is how it looks like at the end, with the screws sunk in way deeper and the pegs extended to lock his lower legs..
The foot connector couldn't be fitted properly. So the whole figure was split in half in gestalt.I really hate when I have to spend so much time with something that does not change the aesthetics one bit..
I must say I disagree. The figure designs are more than descent, loads of details on the sculpt, and you get the Infinity set .I'dd always go for a cheaper set and go crazy with the mods then just buy something definite and just paint it up.Bottom line i really don't mind putting a weeks work into a 70$ shipped combiner
Slag was pretty easy,I just shortened the hands to relieve him of those monkey proportions Not a big mod but I think it's effective. And made the dino mod srest move a bit to ease his transformation.
Thanks for the info on Not-Snarl. Good idea on the hands for Not-Slag since they don't rotate anyway, might as well shorten them.
And then the Swoops head.. It looked just fine but compared to other guys,a bit too big..So I had to redo it. And here it is,much better now.In scale and proportion.
And the painting process itself.Just priming all the bits and pieces took me entire day so I left the painting for tomorrow. All together about 5 days until I started reassembling.. And then i figured that all of the pieces from this tray had their paint peeling right off!And the worst thing is I had some indications that this will happen but..I ignored them. So, if anyone was to do these guys, word to the wise:Sand down all the connector bits,Hinge and joint parts. You won't have any trouble to spot which is which because it's a slightly different plastic.
