The new Generations Autobot Scoop figure reminds me so much of the very awesome and very classic Transformers Armada "Bendy" Optimus Prime figure. I decided to customize Autobot Scoop so that it would resemble Optimus Prime. Besides repainting the figure, I made a few physical changes to the toy. I removed the wheels. I trimmed off excess plastic on the lower legs. I reversed the upper arms and added smoke stacks. For the weapons, I used Generations Orion Pax's blaster gun. The sword was taken from the 3rd party Junkion Blacksmith "Infinity Warfare" set. The shield was custom made from a wing panel from Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave. The figure was painted with Model Master lacquer and Testors enamel. The figure was not clear coated. I custom designed the package and drew the Optimus Prime artwork. I thought it would be fun to give it a "classic" look in celebration of the "Thrilling 30" theme. Thank you for checking this out. I hope you like it. ~Lou B. aka "char_leigh"
Dang, you beat me to it! I considered doing this same thing, but I kept putting it off. Nice job. Also, very nice job on the box artwork. Impressive. When I do this custom myself, I'll probably leave the wheels on it, and not turn the arms around. My Primes can't go without wheels. ;-)
Wow, now there's a project I hadn't thought of for this! My hat's off to you char_ leigh! Really nice work!
The custom is great, but the packaging just puts it over the top!!! Fantastic packaging...simple and more effective than what Hasbro managed to do.
Mate this Rocks! O a side note, you could have kept the wheels on and did a sick custom truck with him too...I am tempted to follow in your footsteps on this. Cheers!
Thanks for the compliments, everyone. I greatly appreciate it. I'm really happy that people like the packaging as well. Generations Scoop is a really nice figure to customize -- he disassembles easily, is easy to paint, and he's an articulate figure with a nice "generic" body to use as a base. If you're thinking of using him for a custom, I suggest picking him up off the shelves while you see him. He's pegwarming around the stores in my area, but I have a feeling that it won't be long before he's hard to find once newer TF product starts flowing in. But once again, thanks for the feedback! It's appreciated.
