Warning: Wall of Text Approaching... Bio: The being known as Astris Prime first appeared in the Alpha Quadrant. After the Argus array detected a space-time anomally, Starfleet dispatched the USS Astris, a Nova class variant to investigate. Upon arrival, the ship was buffeted by energy waves causing massive EPS damage. With life support failing, the crew was forced to crowd onto their few shuttles and evacuate the ship and the area. The large cybernetic being that emerged from the anomaly was also damaged, but functional. He found most of his memories gone, but deep-seated part of his program told him that survival might well rely on disguise. The only piece of technology in range was the now non-functional Astris. He scanned it, transformed, and set out for the nearest inhabitants he could find. This turned out to be a Federation colony under siege by the Orion Syndicate. Feeling an urge to intervene, he used his shifting ability and considerable built-in firepower to get the drop on the pirates. He was key to resolving the crisis. Having made first contact with humans, he chose a first and last name: Astris, after the ship that provided his alt mode, and - since he was the first known of his species-…Prime. Astris Prime was accepted into Starfleet and became part of a fast-track pilot program for various non-organic races. Starfleet eventually commissioned a detachable saucer section especially for Astris, which housed a transporter system and other upgrades. Since then, there have been two similar incidents involving space-time anomalies. One, in the Vulcan system, the other near Q’uonos. These two cybernetic beings were of the same species as Artris, albeit much smaller. Having also suffered memory degradation, they have allied themselves with Astris Prime. One took the name Peacekeeper, a rational robot with a shuttlecraft alt mode. The other, more bellicose being chose the form of a prototype Klingon Bird of Prey and the name Piecemaker. The new arrivals found that they had a third alternate form specially suited to working with Astris Prime: Peacekeeper became a high-powered phaser rifle, whereas Piecemaker could convert into a bat’leth melee weapon. With all of these defensive and offensive capabilities, these “transformers” have conjectured that they were once part of a large-scale conflict. None of them have any notion of which faction they originally fought for. However, all have chosen to band together to explore their new home, protect the weak, and search for answers… Astris Prime was made from an Energon Slugslinger. I found a headless one at a flea market, and the legs caught my eye. I figured they’d make good warp nacelles. After messing around with the figure, I found a base alt mode that looked like a Starfleet design. I dremmeled off his arm wings, and used an AMT Enterprise-C kit for the saucer. I used styrene to add connection pegs that fit quite well in his dorsal section. The whole thing is hand-painted. He sat unfinished for about six months as real life got in the way and I searched for a head. I finally went with a repainted Bumblebee head from a Kre-o set my wife got me. Still, I wanted to make him a little more unique, So I made him a Targetmaster. Peacekeeper is made from a Micron Arms Megatron, with a couple of Kre-o pieces added. I filed off some of the more sinister looking corners and did a coat of white paint. Piecemaker is a Micron Arms Bumblebee with only some paint and alternate transformations. Feedback appreciated, but I'm aware that my painting skills, are strictly entry-level. Appropriate considering this is my first original custom.
Thanks! I had that thought, too. This project made me pick up a couple of more copies of this mold, so alternate drafts may be in the future...
Very cool. Do you intend to pick out some of the details of add a wash? It would really help break up the solid grey.
nice! though, I think you could upgrade peacekeeper to either breacher, or simply give him a shell from an innerspace shuttle. could do with more smoothing on the main hull area to make him look a little more starfleet shaped, but still, nice. needs a registry though.
That's sweet! Love the work. Ever think about not dropping a saucer on it, and using more of his look w/o it that you show earlier in the pics? It has a sweet late TNG/Post Nemesis vibe going on there. And just building up a bridge on that?
Thanks. I'm stocking up on the mold when I can find it cheap, so I think that's the approach I'll take for the future versions. I'm thinking there may be a Prometheus class combiner in the future... Thanks for the positive vibes! Thanks for input. I'll keep that in mind on the next attempt. I'm starting to work with some custom decals. I may revisit when I have time. Thanks. I may try it later on. I think I need to practice a bit more before hitting that many details.
Man, and I thought Unicon9's was the shiznit, but your base bot is a perfect fit for this. More please
Man, I would absolutely go bananas if an entire line of transformer star trek cross-over ships were released. Bananas I say. Absofreakinloutly! Good work on your first. Looks the part has me interested in what you have planned next.
holy cow your work is on par with Unicron 9's work on Autobot-E take a look at his work Star Trek/Transformers Crossovers: Autobot E by Unicron9 on deviantART
This is awesome! At first I didn't think Energon Slugslinger would work for this project, but he worked flawlessly! Great job!
Unicron9 is one of the top tier pantheon of artists at whose work I can only marvel. His work was definitely an inspiration from the beginning. Though I appreciate the comparison, I know that for detail, engineering, and refinement, his work is and will continue to be light years beyond mine. But I'm still having fun. Thank you, everyone, for the helpful hints and compliments. Reading them definitely encourages me to work on this (and others) to make it better than before. Might take a while though, as work is keeping me busy. I gotta say, I love my job, but today was a day I came home feeling like a total screw up. It was just a day. Encouragement like this...well, it makes a difference.
